Given thatApe Escapehasn’t had a game of its own since 2010,Astro Bot’s themed mission is far more than just a fun reference for fans of the classic PlayStation series, it’s a short but sweet revival of the gameplay they’ve been missing.
Metal Gear Solid Delta’s Ape Escape Reference Explained
After the PlayStation Store seemingly leakedMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s Jun 03, 2025 release date, Konami released a trailer officially confirming the date. At the end of this trailer, one ofApe Escape’s Pipo Monkeys pops out from behind a log, taunts the camera, and runs away. This final sting is a teaser for the “Snake vs. Monkey” mode that was originally available in the PS2 version ofMetal Gear Solid 3. This mode will see players sneaking up on unsuspecting Pipo Monkeys in the forest and capturing them, just as they would inApe Escape, albeit with a much different set of tools.
