Sony took approximately 24 hours to restore its servers, which were back up and running in the late evening hours (ET) on Saturday, February 8.

In a subsequent statement, Capcom thanked fans for remaining patient whileSony worked to restore the PlayStation Network. The developer also acknowledged that the outage resulted in the secondMonster Hunter Wildsbeta test being shorter than planned. As a result, Capcom is currently considering running a bonus test for PS5 users, which would make up for the 24 hours lost due to the PSN service interruption. However, these plans aren’t yet set in stone, with the company merely stating it will provide more details at a later date.

Capcom Has More Than One Reason to Hold a Bonus Monster Hunter Wilds Beta

In the meantime, the secondMonster Hunter Wildsopen beta is still scheduled to conclude at 9:59 ET on February 9. Holding a bonus test would allow Capcom to compensate fans for time lost during the PSN outage, but that’s not the only reason the company might consider such a move. The main goal of the ongoing beta is to stress-test Capcom’s server infrastructure—a task that may not have been completed to a satisfactory degree due to the PSN service interruption cutting the planned beta period by one-third. On the other hand, thesecondMonster Hunter Wildsbeta was still fairly populareven without PS5 users, opening to over 225,000 concurrent players on Steam alone.

Monster Hunter Wildsis scheduled for release on February 28. Therefore, if Capcom wants to hold a bonus open beta for PS5 users, it will need to commit to a concrete date for the additional test sooner rather than later, possibly as early as the week of February 10.

Sony has not yet provided any concrete details on what caused the early February 2025 PlayStation Network outage, and it’s currently unclear whether it plans to do so at all. The company said that allPlayStation Plus members will be compensated for the 24-hour PSN outageby having their subscriptions automatically extended by five days.
