Ibara Shiozaki is a hero-in-training and also goes by the alias, Vine. A student of Class 1-B of U.A. High School, she is one of the select few training to become a pro hero.
A righteous and religious person, Ibara does not resort to devious ways to win when it comes to battles and only believes in winning fairly. She is usually a hard-to-miss character because of her long green vine-like hair and saintly personality. She is also seen to be polite and respectful towards her classmates and speaks in a more formal manner.

A Powerhouse In The Making, Ibara Is A Compelling Character
Ibara is one of the most underrated characters in theMy Hero Academiaseries, even though she is a strong and determined hero in the making, she does not get as much screen time as the main characters do and makes only a few appearances. With a kind heart and strong sense of justice, Ibara is someone who will uphold the rules and perform to the best of her abilities, this is seen when she initially unleashes her Vine quirk during the U.A. Sports Festival.She is also easily offended and takesher reputation seriously. As a graceful and powerful character, Ibara politely called out Present Mic when he introduced her as the assassin of Class 1-B, stating that she did not enter U.A. High School for wicked or selfish reasons, but rather to spread good.

Ibara’s personality adds a mix of character traits to theMy Hero AcademiaSeries, while most of the students are rude or over-ambitious, Ibara’s personality is more ‘grounded’, and is the perfect example of the kind of personalities who attend U.A. High School. Not only is Ibara graceful, but she also shows a willingness to work alongside her peers and is determined to fulfill her responsibilities as a hero. She also believes in perfecting her Vine quirk so she can become a better hero and contribute more when it comes to real-life battles against villains. During her battle against her classmate, Denki Kaminari,Ibara chose a safe method of eliminatinghim from the Sport Festival by wrapping him in her vines without hurting him, this goes to show her power, grace, and personality at the same time.

Ibara’s Vine quirk is an emitter-type quirk, allowing her to sprout vines from her hair. She is able to manipulate the vines at will with high precision for either attack, defense, or mobility. A few examples of her offensive attacks are the ability to wrap her vines around enemies, constricting them and preventing them from moving. She is also able to use her vines to unleash slash attacks on her enemies or entangle multiple opponents in her vines to stop them from attacking.
Ibara’s defensive maneuvers are also effective in battles, she can create a large vine-made barrier to defend herself against powerful attacks from enemies. Since the use of vines is key in most ofIbara’s offensive and defensive attacks, she can also use her vines to deflect attacks or set traps if an enemy were to come within a radius of her vines. Ibara’s vines can also be used to rescue civilians from dangerous areas or move injured heroes safely.
Her Vine quirk also comes with its own weakness as her range is limited, which means enemies outside the range of her attack would not be affected by her vines. The durability of her vines is also in question, as they can be damaged by cutting attacks. The strength of her vines would depend on her body strength and how much energy she has left. Using her quirk for long periods of time can alsocause mental and physical exhaustion, rendering her weak during intense battles. While Ibara may not be a prominent character in the series, she definitely is a powerful hero to look out for.

My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
