Soulslike games, which are known for their high difficulty and environmental storytelling, have assembled a large fan-base in the past decade, thanks to monumental entries likeBloodborneandElden Ring. Interestingly, other developers have also tried their hand at the subgenre with considerable success so far, with an example beingLies of Pby Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio. In the very near future,Slime Heroesby Pancake Games is set to be the latest Soulslike game, while offering a very different yet amusing take on the genre with an added co-op flavor.
Slime Heroesis a forthcomingSoulslike action RPG for Xbox and PC players, arriving as soon as February 13 on PC and Xbox. It follows the story of a slime on a mission to save a land targeted by corruption after the fall of its guardians. The player can venture into obstacle-filled dungeons and areas sprawling with corrupted foes, either solo or in co-op mode. Among the game’s highlights is the ability to inherit an enemy’s special power after defeating it. The player also has the option to combine these powers and create a custom skillset. Alternatively, they can deploy the various weapons available in the game to engage in boss battles.
Slime Heroes to Launch on More Platforms Later
After its initial launch in February,Slime Heroeswill eventually land on Nintendoand PlayStation in the future. While the action game’s Switch version was confirmed back in November 2024, its PS5 and PS4 ports were recently announced along with a new gameplay trailer. On one hand, the Switch port is planned for “Q1 2025,” whereas the PlayStation launch doesn’t have a release window yet.
Similar toSlime Heroes, there are some other titles in the Soulslike genre that offer a lighthearted experience as opposed to the usual dark tone of the genre. One such game isAnother Crab’s Treasure,which brings a refreshing spin to Soulslike games.
