Summary
Devil Fruit Awakening is the next step inOne Piecefor those who possess the powers of these mystical fruits. While Devil Fruits offer various abilities to the user, depending on the type that they consume, these abilities can actually be taken beyond all limits.
Only a few individuals have managed to accomplish this inOne Piece, and they often tend to be among the strongest. However, strangely enough, there are someOne Piececharacters who are easily among the strongest in the series but have, for some reason, not gained access to Devil Fruit Awakening, or, at the very least, have not had this power confirmed for them.
King
King is one of the three right-hand men of Yonko Kaido. Known to be a very skilled fighter, King attained a bounty of 1.390 billion berries, which just goes to show that he was, indeed, a top-tier fighter. Despite having the Pteranodon Devil Fruit for quite long, King actually never managed to awaken his Devil Fruit. This just goes to show that King was never truly among the best Devil Fruit users in One Piece, and, when coupled with the fact that his Haki was quite average as well, one can see King’s limitations as a fighter.
Whereas Katakuri had access to all three types of Haki and Devil Fruit Awakening, King failed to land an impression in either category.
Kizaru
Kizaru is yet another character whom fans would have expected to have Devil Fruit Awakening. Kizaru was seen in action across many One Piece arcs. More recently,Kizaru showcased his strength in the Egghead arc. However, much to the surprise of the fans, he did not showcase Devil Fruit Awakening at all.
With the Logia-type Pika Pika no Mi, Awakening would have been quite deadly. Strangely enough, he has not awakened his Devil Fruit despite having had access to it for years upon years.
Fujitora
Admiral Fujitora is also one of the strongest individuals in One Piece, and his status as an Admiral of the Navy is proof of that. He is a very skilled user of his Zushi Zushi no Mi, which fans know to be a Paramecia ability capable of controlling gravity.
Unfortunately, Fujitora is not a user of Devil Fruit Awakening. Given his pedigree, and at the same time, the level of strength that he possesses, he should have Devil Fruit awakening as well.
Greenbull
Admiral Greenbull of the Navy is a user of the Mori Mori no Mi, which is a mighty Logia ability. Fans know him to be quite strong, especially because his ability is tied to nature itself. For now, fans don’t know whether he has awakened his ability or not.
It is possible that he possesses an awakened Devil Fruit,but his display in the Wano Country Arcwas quite pathetic. So far, he has shown no indication of having an awakened Devil Fruit.
Big Mom
One of the most surprising things about Emperor Big Mom was that she did not possess Awakened Devil Fruit . If she did, then Oda never confirmed Devil Fruit Awakening for her. Big Mom ate her Devil Fruit at a very young age.
Having had this fruit for over 5 decades and not awakening it, despite being a Yonko and a capable user of all types of Haki, is quite baffling.Big Mom should most definitely have had Devil Fruit Awakening. A case can be made for Big Mom having Devil Fruit awakening, but It is not officially labeled as such. Unfortunately, fans will likely never get a confirmation on it, and what they know is that it was never explicitly stated that she has an Awakened Devil Fruit.
Kaido
Just like Big Mom, Kaido falls into a gray area where it is quite ambiguous as to whether he possesses Devil Fruit Awakening or not.Kaido is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit user, and Mythical Zoans gain unique transformations when they awaken their fruits.
Kaido had a unique purple transformation, which could be linked to Devil Fruit Awakening. On top of that, he had another flame dragon transformation, which could, once again, be linked to Awakening. When it comes to Kaido, fans can make a stronger case for Devil Fruit Awakening, but, as was the case with Big Mom, it has never been explicitly stated to be Awakening, which means that this Yonko, despite being the strongest in the world at one point, did not possess Devil Fruit Awakening.
Whitebeard
Whitebeard was the strongest man in the worldand quite easily one of the mightiest individuals to have ever lived. He was the only pirate capable of rivaling Roger and tying a battle with him, and, at the same time, held the ability to destroy the entire world.
Whitebeard wielded the power of the Gura Gura no Mi for many years. Despite that, he seemingly never awakened his Devil Fruit. It might be that he did have an awakened Devil Fruit, but fans never got to see it, neither during Marineford, nor during his clash against Roger in the Oden flashback.
