Summary
Shanks is one of the most powerful pirates inOne Pieceand certainly a monstrous individual. Known to be one of the Four Emperors of the Sea,Shanks possesses such majestic strengththat only a handful of individuals can rival in the story. He’s especially attuned to the usage of Haki, which is why a lot of the individuals inOne Piecefear this man.
Naturally, being a pirate, Shanks has fought many powerful characters over the years, beating some of them, while taking injuries from some others. Undoubtedly, some of them are believed to be legendary in terms of power, which makes his clashes with them even more special.

5Mihawk
The Strongest Swordsman in the World,Dracule Mihawk is a very powerful individualwith great pedigree. Mihawk was once a rival to Shanks, and it is believed that these two engaged in multiple battles across the Grand Line. Whitebeard confirmed that Shanks and Mihawk used to fight long ago which goes to imply that their battles were never truly settled.
Unfortunately, after Shanks lost his arm, Mihawk did not pursue more fights with him. That said, Shanks certainly did enjoy his duels with the legendary greatest swordsman, up until 12 years ago in One Piece.

4Blackbeard
Blackbeard is a ferocious criminalin theOne Pieceworld, and the leader of the Blackbeard Pirates. He’s one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, with a bounty second only to Shanks among the current active pirates in the story. Blackbeard and Shanks go way back. In fact, Shanks is the character who knows Blackbeard the best out of anyone in the story.
It is believed that Shanks and Blackbeard have fought each other seriously in the past, and this is where Blackbeard gave Shanks his famous scar across his eye. Shanks was certain of Blackbeard holding tremendous strength, to the point where he begged Whitebeard to stop Ace from pursuing Teach. Naturally, Shanks had already had a taste of his strength, which is why he was so concerned about Ace. Even now, Shanks is pursuing Blackbeard in an attempt to stop him permanently in the New World.

3Loki
Loki is a very dangerous individual who hails from Elbaf. He believes himself to be the Sun God and the destroyer of the world. Loki’s power is so tremendous that it is essentially comparable to an ancient weapon. Even the World Government has placed a special 2.6 billion berry bounty on his head, despite him not being a known criminal.
Loki was at sea 6 years ago, which is also the time when Shanks became a Yonko, implying that these two things have something to do with one another. Shanks and Loki most definitely fought 6 years ago, and it was recently made clear that Shanks beat him, bringing him back to Elbaf. Fans will most likely find out more soon enough.
2Kaido
The strongest creature in One Piece until recently and one of the mightiest of the Four Emperors of the Sea,Kaido is a very powerful individualwho ruled over Wano. Kaido has fought multiple battles over the years, but he only holds a few individuals in a special regard. Shanks is certainly one of these individuals.
Kaido and Shanks clashed right before the Paramount War, when Kaido was attempting to go and fight against Whitebeard. Shanks stopped him, and sent him back to Wano, without receiving any injuries, which shocked many people of theOne PieceWorld. The exact way in which this battle went isn’t known, but it goes without saying that Shanks handled Kaido very well.
1Whitebeard
The strongest of the Four Emperors in history,Whitebeard was a legendary figurewho could rival even the Pirate King, Roger. In fact, it is believed that Whitebeard was the only pirate to ever match Roger in combat, at least during their own era, which disregards Rocks from the conversation. Whitebeard had the power of the Gura Gura no Mi, and at the same time, had control over all three types of Haki.
These two characters clashed aboard the Moby Dick. Shanks visited the Emperor to request him to stop Ace from pursuing Blackbeard. Of course, things soured quickly during this conversation and led to these two clashing with their Conqueror’s Haki. Thankfully, this was not a full-scale clash and was resolved rather quickly. Regardless, Shanks did trade blows with the legendary Whitebeard.
