The ending ofOne Piecehas always been a highly discussed topic within the community. Being such an incredibly long series, many fans are anxious to see what the ending ofOne Piecewill bring. However, so far, the end of the series has been an incredibly well-kept secret, with fans only being left to guess what might be in store for them duringOne Piece’sfinal chapters.
Despite fans not knowing what is going to happen at theend ofOne Piece’sFinal Saga, fans are sure they know what they don’t want to happen by the end of the series. Between strange twist endings, to unnecessary fight scenes, fans have given plenty of examples of things that would sour the ending of an otherwise beloved series. Plus, some of these occurrences, although still just bad examples, seem like they have the potential to happen based on the track record of the series.

One Piece’s Ending Is Fast Approaching
Many Secrets Are Being Revealed
Overall, as the series is delving further intoOne Piece’sElbaf Arc, more and more secrets are being revealed. Recently, with the release of Chapter 1138 and the Ancient Mural of Elbaf, it feels like fans are closer now than ever to unraveling the secrets ofOne Pieceand uncovering the ending of such a long-running series. Due to the apparent ending coming closer, anxiety for the series to have a good ending has been higher now more than ever.
I know I’ve been saying Final Saga this and Final Saga that, but it’s not gonna end as quickly as I’m making it sound, so I’d recommend not stressing over it and just reading comfortably. - Oda

Fans Are Worried About Too Many Tropes In One Piece
A Lack of Character Deaths And Weird Plot Convenience May Sour The Experience
Firstly, a major thing fans are concerned about is thatthe final battles ofOne Piecewill lack meaningful character deaths. Throughout the series,One Piecehas tended to shy away from killing important characters. For many, this removes any stakes the series has, taking away a lot of tension from fight scenes. If no character dies in the final battle, then the entire ending ofOne Piecemay lose a lot of tension, overall, weakening it severely.
Another aspect fans are worried about withthe ending ofOne Pieceis if the problems of the series are solved by time travel. Although time travel has been a part of the series before, it was used sparingly, which helped it fit more naturally in the story. However, if time travel is used too much, the ending may feel cheapened by the reliance on a strange sci-fi trope rather than anything that feels more natural.

Denying The Build Up Throughout One Piece Would Be A Problem
Off-Screen Battles And Unfulfilled Dreams May Ruin The Ending
One thing that would ruin the series completely for many fans is if the Straw Hat Pirates are denied the opportunity to achieve their dreams. One Piece, throughout the series, has put a huge emphasis onthe dreams of the Straw Hat Pirates, and their goals. If one of the crew wasn’t able to complete their goal, or it happens off-screen, this detail may be enough to ruin the spirit thatOne Piecehas built up to.
I’m going to become the King of the Pirates! - Luffy

One major thing that may affect the last war ofOne Piece’sFinal Saga is off-screen battles. Although the battle itself is arguably going to be the biggest thing that fans have ever seen, including too many off-screen battles may cheapen the experience. As it stands, fans are already uneasy about the amount ofoff-screen battlesOne Piecehas had. Adding more to the ending ofOne Pieceseems like a very bad move, no matter how big the battle gets.
Imu And Blackbeard Deserve Recognition
Finally, having a random villain take over right before the end of the series seems like a surefire way to ruinthe final arc ofOne Piece. Many fans are excited to see Blackbeard or Imu rise as the final antagonist of the series, engaging in an epic battle against the forces of good. If these two are replaced by something that is newly introduced to the series, some fans may not enjoy the ending nearly as much.
Although many of these examples are up to an individual’s taste, a lot of recommendations of what would make abad ending forOne Pieceare based on tropes that come up frequently in other anime, or other works of fiction. While there are ways to make these tropes work, more often than not, their execution in the story feels lazy and uninspired. In the end, although fans are worried now, even if these things occur in the story, being a good writer overall, Oda would surely find a way to expertly weave them intoOne Piece’sending.
