Summary

WhileOne Piecefeatures some of the greatest fight scenes in the modern realm of anime, the series can’t show everything that fans want to see. Already,One Pieceis far longer than any fan would have ever expected, reaching the point where many feel it may be a bit too bloated overall. Due to this, certain fan-favorite matchups may never come to fruition, no matter how plausible they seem on paper.

However, this hasn’t stopped fans from creating their favorite hypothetical battles that would be amazing to see inthe actual story ofOne Piece.Ranging from massive battles between Emperors to pitting characters from different periods against each other, these battles, although virtually impossible at this point in the story for one reason or another, are stuck in the imaginations of viewers. Although they will never happen, fans wish they could see theseOne Piecematchups.

Old Whitebeard

Many One Piece Fans Have Dream Matchups

Fights In One Piece That Would Be Amazing But Will Never Happen

To be considered as one of the matchups fans wish they saw, the battle itself needs to be impossible in the current landscape ofOne Piece. This means that if the battle has a chance of happening later down the line inOne Piece’sFinal Saga, it won’t be considered. Overall, this will generally include certain fights between characters who are deceased or otherwise unaccounted for in the current story ofOne Piece.

At the same time, while in some cases it seems very unlikely, some of the matchups that fans wish they saw could be covered by certain flashbacks later down the line. While this is always a possibility, many of the matchups, while plausible in a flashback, feature mainly characters that are less relevant tothe final arcs ofOne Piece. If both characters are still active in the current arc ofOne Piece, with lots of unexplored backstory, they shouldn’t be included in the matchups.

Kaido Versus Whitebeard Would Be A Massive Amount Of Fan Sevice

X Drake Versus Vergo Presents An Interesting Moral Battle

Firstly, many fans wish they had the opportunity to see old Whitebeard take on Kaido during the modern story ofOne Piece. Although they most likely had, at the very least, sparred in the past, fans wished they could have seen an all-out war betweenOne Piece’sWhitebeard Piratesand the Beast Pirates, with the World’s Strongest Man and the World’s Strongest Creature duke it out. However, after Whitebeard’s death and Kaido’s defeat, seeing something like this in the modern story ofOne Piece, even in the form of a flashback, seems highly unlikely.

Another fight featuring some smaller characters in the series would be a matchup between Vergo and X Drake. While these characters aren’t nearly as popular as other characters, seeing a matchup between a pirate masquerading as a Navy officer anda member ofOne Piece’sSWORDmasquerading as a pirate would create an interesting clash of morality, similar to Smoker’s battle with the figure. Additionally, although Vergo is incredibly strong, the fight may be closer than most fans anticipate, with X Drake being heavily underrated. Sadly, although Drake is still relevant to the story, Virgo himself is deceased, making this matchup impossible.

A Free-For-All With The First Commanders Would Be Action-Packed

Finding A Reason For The Battle In The Final Saga Makes It Unlikely

Finally, although this one is still inside the realm of possibility, seeing a fight between the Emperors’ first commanders would be amazing to see. Having a free-for-all that includes characters likethe Straw Hat swordsman, Zoro, Katakuri, King, and Marco would be fantastic to see even if it is just friendly sparring. However, organizing a battle like this feels logistically improbable, especially since most of the characters in this list are currently allies.

You need to accept the fact that you’re not the best and have all the will to strive to be better than anyone you face. - Zoro

In the end, those are just a few ofthe many battles ofOne Piecethat fans wish they could see. However, the list goes even further than just these three matchups. Almost every fan has a “dream” matchup they wish they could have seen inOne Piece. Sadly, as the series is eventually drawing to a close, many of these battles, despite featuring interesting matchups, will never come to be.
