The Elbaf arc ofOne Piecehad been keeping fans on the edge, largely due to the instruction of two new villains, one of which turned out to be none other than a Shanks lookalike. This was, undoubtedly, a very exciting development in the story and fans were itching to know who this was.
This character was the center of many discussions, with some wanting him to be the Captain of the Red Hair Pirates, Shanks, and others being adamant that this person was actually Shanks’s brother and a member of the Holy Knights, as well asthe son of Saint Garling Figarland.One Piecechapter 1137 was massive in solving this key mystery and now, Oda has officially revealed to the fans the name and true identity of this person. Unsurprisingly, this new character was revealed to be the twin of Shanks, and his name was finally confirmed to be Shamrock Figarland.
Shamrock Figarland Is Shanks’s Twin Brother And Garling’s Son
Fans first saw the twin brother of Shanks in the Reverie arc of the story, where he met with the Five Elders, seeking an audience because he wanted to speak about a certain pirate. At the time, fans simply assumed that this character was Shanks and that he was actually secretly linked to the Government. However, things took a turn when, in the Egghead arc ofOne Piece, Oda went on to reveal that Shanks’s father, who was already confirmed to be a Celestial Dragon inOne Piece Film Red, actually had more than just one child. While this was only subtly implied by Oda, it went on to be confirmed later down the line in Elbaf, when two individuals appeared in Elbaf, for unknown reasons, seeking to cause problems in the country. At this point, it was clear that this person was not Shanks, and fans were eagerly waiting for Oda to do a proper reveal for the character and go on to reveal his name.

Finally, One Piece chapter 1137 saw to it that all the mysteries about this character were finally solved. It was officially confirmed that this character was, in fact, not Shanks, but his twin brother, Shamrock Figarland. Shamrock was revealed to be the son of Garling Figarland, and the leader of the Holy Knights. This was a big reveal by Oda, and one that makes the Elbaf arc of the story that much more exciting.
The full design for Shamrock Figarland was incredibly exciting. Fans could see his attire and it resembled an official Knight attire, with a military look, clad in a cape. Shamrock, obviously, has both arms intact, unlike Shanks, and no scar across his face, just in case some fans wanted another confirmation. On top of that, fans could also see his hairstyle, which is quite different from that of Shanks. Shamrock Figarland has a braid and hair tied at the back of his head. His hair is longer than Shanks’s, and that sets the two apart.
It is no surprise that Oda went onto reveal Shamrock Figarland in Elbaf, especially since he had already teased his arrival to the country during Jump Festa 2025 in his message:

The Role Of Shamrock Figarland In Elbaf
Shamrock Is The Main Villain Of Elbaf
Undoubtedly, fans are wondering what the role of Shamrock Figarland in the Elbaf arc ofOne Pieceis going to be. While it might be surprising to some fans, Shamrock is actually the main antagonist of Elbaf. This was immediately apparent upon his arrival in Elbaf, but became clearer once Shamrock’s plan was revealed.
Shamrock and Gunko arrived in Elbaf to recruit Loki for a position in the order of the Holy Knights. However, this was only a small part of a grand scheme. The real reason why they wanted Loki wasn’t just because he is strong, but because he isthe legitimate prince of Elbaf, and having him as a Holy Knight would put the entirety of Elbaf under the control of the World Government. This is something that Big Mom tried to do in the past as well, but she failed because Loki couldn’t marry Lola following her defection from Totland.

Due toLoki’s refusal to join the Holy Knights, Shamrock seems to have taken a different approach. The World Government will now try to get Elbaf under their control with force, and that means reinforcement from the side of the World Government are now going to be headed to the country.
This could include the Holy Knights and the Marines both, which would certainly make for a very exciting plot. Shamrock will, undoubtedly, be the strongest of them all and will stand in Luffy’s path as the main antagonist of the arc. While Luffy will definitely not be fighting Shanks in this arc, he is certainly going to be fighting against Shamrock here and will have to beat him to prove himself as a true Yonko.
Is Shamrock Stronger Than Shanks?
Shamrock Should Have Strength Relative To Shanks
It is no surprise to know that fans are wondering about Shamrock’s strength. While Oda hasn’t shown his full capabilities, what he can do in combat is already clear. Shamrock is incredibly powerful, so much so that the World Government made him the leader of the Holy Knights followingthe promotion of Garling to Five Elders. A very good indicator of Shamrock’s strength is the fact that Oda decided to portray Shamrock as stronger than Loki. Shamrock clearly told Loki that even if he was free, he wouldn’t be able to change a thing about the outcome of his meeting with the Holy Knights, implying that he’s clearly stronger.
On top of that, Loki, despite having a bounty of 2.6 billion berries, would be under Shamrock’s command as a Holy Knight if he were to join, implying that Shamrock is stronger than someone with a 2.6 billion berries bounty, which pushes him to Yonko tier. Above all, he’s Shanks’s brother and Garling’s son, and that kind of pedigree alone makes him a Yonko level threat thateven Luffy will struggle against.
