One Piecechapter 1138 dropped recently and it is safe to say that this chapter revealed tonnes of important pieces of information pertaining to the lore of the world. If there’s one thing that fascinates the fans ofOne Piece, it’s the lore of the series, and Oda did remarkably well here to tease enough events about the future of the world as well as give them a look into the past, both from the Void Century, and from a time long Endo that.
All this was accomplished with the Harley texts, which was finally provided to Nico Robin inOne Piecechapter 1138, and at the same time, depicted through a mural engraved in the Adam Tree, which was shown to the fans through the character of Franky. While the Harley texts can be hard to decipher,One PieceChapter 1138 certainly gave the fans enough to highlight what it’s all about.
The Harley Text And Their Role In Elbaf
The Harley texts ofOne Piecewere first mentioned during the banquet in Elbaf through the character of Jarul. Immediately after Elder Jarul joined the banquet, it became clear that he held a lot of important information that could be very relevant when concerning the Void Century and the time in between that and the current era. Oda wasted no time having Jarul talk about the history of the world, and while some of what he said was surely expected, other bits in there were shocking. Quite easily, the most interesting reveal made by Jarul concerned the destruction of the world.
According to Elder Jarul, the world ofOne Piecehas been destroyed twice already in the past, and all this is stated in a holy scripture of Elbaf, called the Harley. The Harley is incredibly difficult to decipher, and since much of this language is lost to time, different people have different translations of it. One thing that is clear, however, is that each destruction ofthe world mentioned by the Harleysees the emergence of Sun God Nika. This is precisely why some see Nika as a savior of the world, while others see him as a Destroyer. InOne Piecechapter 1138, Oda gave fans access to all of the Harley, thanks to the character of Nico Robin.
The Hidden Meaning Behind The Harley Text
The Harley Tells The Story Of The World
According to the Harley, the world has been destroyed twice already, which means that the world that people live in currently is the Third World, and before it, two other worlds used to exist. The Harley speaks about all three of these worlds and tells the story of how they were destroyed.
The First World
Flames engulfed the land, and humans succumbed to their desires, touching the forbidden Sun. The enslaved prayed, and the Sun God appeared. The Earth God was enraged, and together with the serpent of infernal flames, shrouded the world in death and darkness. They would never meet again.
According to the Harley, the First World existed long ago,even before the Void Century. This is the time when flames covered the earth and we’re in abundance. These flames were harnessed to create an infinite power source, and this source itself is what led to greed among humans. Due to their greed, more of this undying power was created and slavery was rampant in the world. The slaves secretly prayed for the Sun God, and somehow the Sun God emerged. According to the Mural, the Sun God appeared in a ship like Ark Maxim, which could indicate that this God came from the moon. The emergence of the Sun God angered the God of the Earth, who is unknown at this point, and he collaborated with the Serpent of Infernal Flames and together, they destroyed the world, claiming many lives and crushing humanity.
Second World
Breath stirred within the void, and the Forest God sent forth demons. The Sun did nothing but spread the fires of war. The people of the half-moon dreamed, the people of the full-moon dreamed. Humans slew the Sun and became Gods, and the Sea God raged. They would never meet again.
Many years after the First World’s destruction, humanity had risen again. This time around, the Forest God sent forth demons. It is unknown who the Forest God is, and what the demons they sent are. But, given that Forests are connected to trees and trees are connected to fruits, it can be inferred that the mysterious Forest God existedduring the Void Century. This God likely gave birth to the demons, which could be connected to the Five Elders and their demonic Yokai powers. As a result, the people of the half-moon, or the D, prayed. With them, the people of the full moon, or the Winged people, prayed as well. The Sun God was born and a massive war was fought around this time.
Eventually, humans managed to kill the Sun. It is interesting to note the difference between the Sun and the Sun God. What the humans seemingly got rid of was the Sun, or the infinite power source, but in doing so, they likely also got rid of Nika somehow. With Nika’s death,the Void Century came to an end. Those who had raised their weapons against Nika rejoiced as he finally died. The Sea God, as a consequence, started roaring. This could be Poseidon, the former Mermaid Princess, and she would never meet Joy Boy again. The world was sunk 200 meters under the ocean using the powers of the Ancient Weapons, and was thus completely destroyed.
Third World
In chaos, there is void. The troubled shadow remembers the promised day, and hears the voice of the fractured moon.The Sun God dances and laughs, leading the world to its end. The sun will return once more, and a new dawn will arrive. Surely, this time, they will meet again.
Finally, the Third World tells the story of the current era. This era takes place in the aftermath of the Void Century. The troubled shadow from the Void Century could be Imu, and they hear the voice of a fractured moon. As implied previously, the D are moon people, and the fragments of the moon clearly mean that the survivors of the D Clan. The Sun God finally returns during this era, which is something that the fans already saw.Luffy will have to carry the fighton and bring the true dawn to the world, and this is something that will continue being developed over the years. This time, however, the result will be very different.
