Pokemon GOis consistently adding more Pokemon for players to catch, but it’s not yet possible to “catch ‘em all” in the popular mobile game. Among those missing are several Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, including those from modern games and older generations. Because these Pokemon are often added toPokemon GOvia special events, they can take longer to debut compared to their non-legendary counterparts. This is especially the case for Mythical Pokemon, which often require completing Special Research tasks to obtain. Here are all the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon missing inPokemon GOas of January 2025:
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Sinnoh And Hisui
The Sinnoh region - and its pre-modern counterpart, Hisui - is home to some of the most surprising exclusions. Most notably,Arceus, a Pokemon seen in-universe as a deity associated with creation, is not yet in the game. This may be because Arceus’s ability to change type is difficult to implement inPokemon GO,or that its extremely high base stats are hard to balance. Whatever event or celebration does bring Arceus to the game will likely be very special due to its important status in-universe.
Also missing from this region are the water-themed Phione and Manaphy and the Therian Forme ofEnamorus, a genie-like Pokemon debuting inPokemon Legends Arceus.Therian Enamorus will likely be added to Raid Battles when she arrives, while Phione or Manaphy could be research rewards or the focal Pokemon of a limited-time event.

Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Alola
Many of Alola’s Legendary Pokemon, such as Solgaleo, Lunala and the Tapu quartet, have appeared inPokemon GO.However, some - especially those added later in Generation 7 - are still missing.Type:Nulland Silvally’s absence may be for the same reason as Arceus - it can change type, which may be difficult to implement. Magearna and Zeraora are both absent; Magearna is especially surprising as it was one of the earliest Generation 7 Pokemon revealed. Finally, while most forms of Necrozma are in the game, Ultra Necrozma is not. It would likely be released as part of a special event due to its high power level.
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Galar
Like Alola, the Galar region has seen most of its base game Legendaries make it into the game, although Zacian and Zamazenta are missing their respective Crowned forms. They can currently only be obtained in their respective “Hero of Many Battles” forms. Eternatus is entirely absent, as are all the Legendary Pokemon released as part ofPokemon Sword and Shield’sDLC: Kubfu, Urshifu, Calyrex, Glastrier, and Spectrier.
It is possible that a future event inPokemon GOcould be specifically centered around the Isle of Armor, Crown Tundra or both in order to bring these missing Pokemon into the game. However,Calyrex’sability to ride on Glastrier and Spectrier may be difficult to implement inPokemon GO,so it is possible that it will arrive only in its base form and that the two “Rider” forms will remain absent.
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Paldea
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare the most recent main seriesPokemongames, so it makes sense that most of the game’s Legendaries are missing from the game. Pokemon from the Paldea region only started appearing inPokemon GOin September 2023. An event - or even an entire Season - featuring Paldea Pokemon could definitely be planned for the near future. Early events in 2025 are focusing on the Unova region, but Paldea could have its day soon. Cover legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon will likely be the first to debut, but the Treasures of Ruin and the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon introduced inScarlet and Violet’sDLC will hopefully not be far behind.
In addition, thePast and Future Paradox Pokemonintroduced inScarlet and Violethave not yet been added toPokemon GO.This group of Pokemon are not officially considered to be Legendary or Mythical, but are often grouped with them because they are fairly rare and can only be obtained late in the game. It has been speculated that the addition of the Paradox Pokemon could take the form of a large event or celebration, similar to the introduction of Alola’s Ultra Beasts, a similarly special group.
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Other Regions
While most of the missing Legendary and Mythical Pokemon inPokemon GOcome from the most recent games, there are a few exceptions. One is Volcanion, a Fire/Water Mythical Pokemon native to the Kalos region. Its continued exclusion is particularly surprising because Hoopa, another Kalos Mythical Pokemon, has been the central focus of events and research tasks inPokemon GO.Unlike other earlier generation Pokemon such as Arceus, there is not any specific element that would make it difficult to implement. However, withPokemon Legends Z-Ascheduled to release in 2025, this could change, especially if Volcanion is featured heavily in that game.
Also missing is the Pirouette Forme of Meloetta, a Generation V Mythical Pokemon. Meloetta’s Aria Forme was released in 2021 during Pokemon GO Fest and was the subject of the"Finding Your Voice" special research task. Another Unova Pokemon, Keldeo, is available inPokemon GOin its Ordinary Forme, but not its Resolute Forme. As the Special Research required to obtain Ordinary Forme Keldeo, “Something Extraodinary,” costs money, it is possible that Resolute Forme will also debut via a paid research task or event which requires purchasing an entry ticket.
