Niantic hosts monthlyPokemon GOCommunity Day eventsto give trainers more opportunities to catch new Pokemon and potentially encounter shiny Pokemon. Evolving the featured Pokemon in a limited-time window grants an exclusive move that can prove to be useful in Trainer Battles, Gyms and Raids inPokemon GO. In addition, there are Community Day events that will help boost trainer and Pokemon progression, such as additional XP gains and Candy drops.

ThePokemon GOFebruary 2025 Community Day event will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During the event, Karrablast and Shelmet will appear more frequently in the wild, and the chances of encountering a Shiny Karrablast or Shiny Shelmet will be increased as well. Catching Karrablast or Shelmet and evolving the Pokemon before June 22, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time will reward the player with an Escavalier that knows the Charged Attack Razor Shell or an Accelgor that knows the Charged Attack Energy Ball, respectively. Moreover, multiple event bonuses will be available on February 9 until 10:00 p.m. local time, including triple XP gains and double Candy drops for Catching Pokemon, double Candy XL drops for trainers level 31 and up, and the ability tocatch Smeargle withPokemon GO’ssnapshot feature.

Pokemon GO: When is Karrablast and Shelmet Community Day?

Players who log in during the February Community Day event will receive Timed Research with tasks that award encounters with Karrablast and Shelmet that have a Dual Destiny–themed Special Background. The tasks also give players more opportunities to potentially catch a Shiny Karrablast and a Shiny Shelmet. These Timed Research tasks and their respective rewards must be completed and claimed before February 16 at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Paid Community Day Special Research will be available for $2 with access to exclusive Special Research tasks. Completing these Special Research tasks grants even more rewards, including additional encounters each with Karrablast and Shelmet, a Premium Battle Pass, and a Rare Candy XL. Players can purchase Special Research gift tickets and give them to friends with a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher, allowing them to also reap the benefits of the new Community Day Special Research. ThePokemon GOin-game shopwill also offer two Community Day bundles. For 1,350 PokeCoins, players receive 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, one Elite Charged TM, and five Lucky Eggs. The second bundle costs 480 PokeCoins and offers 30 Ultra Balls, one Incense, three Super Incubators, and one Lure Module.

Players can earn Stardust, Great Balls, and more encounters by completing Field Research tasks, and additional rewards are up for grabs at PokeStop Showcases during the event.
