Summary
According to the latestPokemonfranchise leaks, the Generation 10 games may have native releases on both the original Switch and the Switch 2. The Generation 10Pokemongames have not been announced at the time of this writing, but it’s long been assumed that the games are being made for the Switch 2 as opposed to the original console.
After all, the original Switch was home to both the Generation 8 and 9Pokemongames already, with the Gen 9 games heavily criticized for their performance.Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s open world struggledon the OG Switch hardware, and so many fans assumed Game Freak would leave it behind in favor of the Switch 2 for the nextPokemongeneration. However, the latest leaked information says otherwise.

According to information from the Game Freak hacker,as shared by Centro Leaks, it appears as thoughPokemonGeneration 10 is codenamed Gaia and is primarily being developed for the original Switch. However, something called Super Gaia has been discovered as well, and it seems to be a version of the Generation 10 games for the Switch 2. Additionally, there’s been some evidence to suggest thatPokemon Legends: Z-Acould be getting a native Switch 2 release as well.
Generation 10 Pokemon Games Could Be Coming to the Original Switch
We don’t have a ton of concrete details on the Switch 2 at the moment, but one official detail we do have is that theconsole is backward compatible with the original Switch. This means that Switch 2 owners will be able to play the Generation 10Pokemongames andPokemon Legends: Z-Aregardless if they get native releases. It’s possible that the Switch 2 will run Switch games more efficiently, similar to how the newer Xbox and PlayStation consoles run older games better, but that remains to be seen. Exactly how Nintendo might sweeten the pot for these possible Switch 2 ports is up in the air, especially since the console will already be able to play them.
As it stands, nothing official has been announced about the Generation 10Pokemongames just yet, so fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt. It’s possible more news will come during the probable Pokemon Presents event on February 27. However, it’s been said that the event will focus onPokemongames coming to the original Switch, not Switch 2, so fans should keep that in mind. If the Generation 10Pokemongames are aiming for the original Switch, it may be years before the Switch 2 gets a proper main seriesPokemongame of its own.
