Pokemonfans can now earn two highly coveted shinies in Pokemon Home, but claiming these mons can be a bit more of a challenge than some players may expect. Players can earn ashiny Enamorus inPokemon Homeby completing the Hisui Dex inPokemon Legends: Arceus, as well as a shiny Manaphy by completing the Sinnoh Dex inPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. While both of these tasks are not easy, undertaking the challenge in one game is far more enjoyable than doing so in the other, showcasing two very different sides of an iconicPokemonregion.
Despite differing in name, the Sinnoh and Hisui regions are one and the same—only separated by time within thePokemonuniverse. Searching for critters in the overworld and attempting to capture them in real time made the journey towards completing the Pokedex even more rewarding than it had been in previous games. WithPokemon Legends: Z-Aon the horizon, the opportunity to earn shiny Enamorus is the perfect excuse for players to dive back intoLegends: Arceusand finish their Pokedex.
While there are some bumps along the road to completing the Hisui Dex, such as having to find all the wisps needed to access Spiritomb, the overall gameplay ofLegends: Arceusis far more engaging than other entries in the series that rely on random spawns. The variousRide Pokemon available inPokemon Legends: Arceuslike Wyrdeer and Braviary make traversing the map much more convenient as well, speeding up some of the process of hunting for one of every mon. As such, the process of completing the Pokedex inLegends: Arceusis one of the more enjoyable experiences of the series, and earning shiny Enamorus as a reward is the icing on the cake.

Although it was released only a few months beforePokemon Legends: Arceus, the community consensus onPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlleaves it as the black sheep of the franchise. Many fans had hoped to see Gen 4 remakes on the Switch for years leading up to the game’s release, but the formBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearltook was underwhelming to many players. These remakes adapted the inferiorDiamond and Pearlgames over theenhancedPlatinum Version, meaning they retained much of the criticism from those originals such an overall sluggish pace to the game that makes it tedious to complete.

However, the traversal options for exploring the Sinnoh Region inBDSPare far more restrictive than those offered inLegends: Arceus, with the return of HMs from the original Gen 4 games and technical limitations like awkward hit boxes impacting options like Cycling and Surfing. The desire for a shiny Manaphy may draw some players back into these games, but it’s clear that obtaining shiny Enamorus is the far more appealing prospect, given how much better it feels to complete theLegends: ArceusPokedex.
