A day before adding trading support, DeNA issued a warning toPokemon TCG Pocketplayersabout “inappropriate conduct” that’s in violation of its terms of use. The developer cited trading with real money and “data tampering” as examples of such behavior. Anyone who is found to be in violation ofPokemon TCG Pocket’s terms of service will be warned, have their account suspended, or face another action, the January 27 in-game notification reads. DeNA said its strict policy against cheating and other behavior that’s in violation of its ToS is meant to provide a fair environment that allows everyone to “safely and comfortably enjoy their experience.”

Pokemon TCG Pocket May Be Cracking Down on Wonder Pick Farming

While the warning doesn’t provide further details, some fans on social media believe it hints at a crackdown on the so-called “Wonder Pick farming.” This practice involves creating numerous new accounts to roll aPokemon TCG Pocketgod packand then selling the account’s friend code to people who want a guaranteed rare card pick. Paying third parties for friend codes explicitly violates the game’s terms of service. However, if DeNA is indeed preparing to crack down on this practice, it remains unclear whether its planned sanctions will target sellers, buyers, or both.

The late January notice can also be interpreted as a warning against selling card offers once trading rolls out. However, this potential practice may not be as popular as Wonder Pick farming because theinitial version ofPokemon TCG Pocket’s trading will be heavily restrictedand prevent players from exchanging the three rarest—and hence most desirable—categories of cards in the game.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s terms of service can be reviewed by opening the home screen menu, tapping “Other,” and then selecting the “Terms of Use” option. The agreement states that the game can modify its ToS at any time, even without notifying players—a fairly standard industry practice. Given the current lack of online buzz to the contrary, it appears that any potential crackdown on “inappropriate conduct” byPokemon TCG Pockethasn’t started yet.
