Pidgeot has been part ofPokemon TCG Pocketsince its October 2024 release, as the game launched with the Generation 1-focused Genetic Apex expansion. However, it wasn’t until mid-December 2024 that the TCG introduced Pidgeot EX, which debuted as part of the Mythical Island set.

While many players have already built decks around this card, The Pokemon Company is now looking to help even more people do so. To that end, the publisher has shared a detailed guide for a Pidgeot EX deck that aims to strike a balance between versatility and consistency. Apart from two copies of Pidgeot EX, the newly shared deck list incorporates just one other EX card, Mew EX, which also debuted as part ofPokemon TCG Pocket’s Mythical Island expansion.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Pidgeot EX Deck Strategy

Since Pidgeot EX is a Stage 2 Pokemon, the basic strategy for playing this deck is to stall for time while setting it up. That’s where Druddigon comes into play, as its 100 HP makes it a great meat shield, especially when paired with the Rough Skin ability that does 20 damage to its attacker. Since Druddigon’s only move, Dragon Claw, requires three Energy tokens and only does 90 damage, players will usually want to avoid attaching energy to it altogether, and just let it chip down the attacker with Rough Skin while committing resources elsewhere. The single copy of Tauros serves a similar role to Druddigon.

The deck usesPokemon TCG Pocket’s Mew EXas its secondary attacker. That’s mainly on account of the card’s Genome Hacking move, which allows Mew EX to mimic any move from the opponent’s active Pokemon for three Energy tokens. As such, Mew can be a cost-effective counter to a wide variety of hard-hitting mons, and potentially even use some of their moves before them.

Pidgeot EX is still the main win condition of the deck, as its Scattering Cyclone move is one of the cheapest ways to deliver 140 damage in the entire game. Its low retreat cost also makes it easy to shuffle around the board, which is especially important for EX cards that award two points when knocked out. Overall, anyPokemon TCG Pocketplayer wanting to build a colorless deckshould give Pidgeot EX serious consideration.
