World Triggerfans will have to wait a little longer to read the next chapter, as the series is going through another hiatus.
World Triggerquickly became a popular series when it started serialization inShonen Jumpin 2013, but the series has been coming back and forth from many hiatuses since 2016. It was later moved toJump SQ, a monthly magazine.

In December 2024, the official account announced that the series would not have any new chapter in the Januaryissueof Jump SQ.Now,they have extended the hiatus to the February issue(which is titledJump SQ March Special Edition). It is set to resume in March, but they might extend the hiatus once again depending on Ashihara’s condition.
The series will be on hiatus in Jump SQ March Special Edition, set for release on February 4 (Tuesday), due to the author’s poor health.
We apologize to all the readers who are eagerly looking forward to the next chapter.

World Trigger Previous Hiatuses
World Trigger has gone through many hiatuses, and a good portion of them wererelated to Daisuke Ashihara’s health. Fans even keep “hiatus charts” to know if the series is on a break.
While it had gone on a few hiatuses from 2014 to 2016 (most of them lasting only a week), the first long hiatus was from the end of 2016 to the end of 2018. In 2019, it was moved toJump SQ, probably partially to give Ashihara more time to prepare chapters, as it is a monthly magazine.
Since then, the series has still had some hiatuses, but most of them would only last for a month (that means it skips only one issue), and not all of them are due to the author’s health. Despite several pauses, it has never been disclosed what illness the author has (if the breaks are all due to the same disease, as many believe).
Is World Trigger Anime Still On The Cards?
The series has been adapted intoanime by Toei Animation. The first season came out in 2014, when it was a very popular series inJump(some thought it could become a flagship for the magazine). However, probably due to the 2-year-long hiatus,Seasons 2 and 3 aired years later, in 2021 and 2022.
As these pauses affect the manga’s popularity, Toei might have lost interest in adapting the rest of the story. However, also due to the frequent breaks, there’s also the possibility that the studio is waiting for the manga to end to be able to cover the entire story.
