Summary
Ubisoft has confirmed thatRainbow Six Siegehas made some extremely important updates to its anti-cheat system, which should help the game become more cheater-free. The battle against cheaters in competitive FPS titles is never-ending, butRainbow Six Siegehas taken a big step forward with its latest update.
Despite being initially released back in 2015,Rainbow Six Siegemaintains an extremely dedicated community thanks to Ubisoft’s long-term commitment to the game. Thecompetitive tactical shooterspace has a few big competitors with titles likeCounter-Strike 2andValorant, but it’s a testament to the quality ofRainbow Six Siegethat it has remained relevant for as long as it has. The game isn’t exactly showing signs of decline, either, with a similar average player count over the last few years, according to SteamDB.

In a post on X,Rainbow Six Siegeshared a few important changes to its anti-cheat system. From now on, botting is a permanent ban on the first offense. Previously, this was an initial 15-day ban, which would be made permanent upon a second offense. This has been made possible “by an improved detection system that drastically reduces false positives.” Any cheater found in an ongoing game will be immediately kicked, and the match canceled to ensure competitive integrity. Ubisoft has also shipped a new round of hardening and security updates, which will have “major disruption and impact on the most prevalent cheat providers.“Rainbow Six Siegewas already considered to have one of thebest anti-cheats on the market, and this should improve it further.
Rainbow Six Siege Makes Big Anti-Cheat Changes
Ultimately, it’s always going to be a challenge for any FPS game to eliminate cheaters completely.Rainbow Six Siegecompetitors likeCounter-Strike 2have implemented heavy penalties for cheating, but this doesn’t always act as a deterrent for those determined to cheat. It’s a constant battle, with developers always trying to stay ahead of cheat providers, with mixed results. Hopefully, this latestRainbow Six Siegeupdate will have a big effect on cheating in the game.
Hopefully, 2025 will be another strong year forRainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has started off well. Just recently, it released anewRainbow Six Siegeupdate for January 2025, although it did arrive with some controversial changes to Operators and weapons. This is always going to be a delicate balance, though - trying to please everyone in tactical FPS games is always a tough ask.
