An ESRB rating spotted by VGCsuggests thatResident Evil 6is coming to Xbox Series X/S consoles. And unless Capcom has suddenly decided to makeResident Evil 6an Xbox console exclusive when it comes to the latest systems, a PS5 version is most likely in the works as well. Presumably, the native Xbox Series X/PS5 versions ofResident Evil 6will be mostly identical to other versions of the game, though it’s possible there will be performance enhancements of some kind. SinceResident Evil 6is already available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X through backward compatibility, some may be questioning why such a port is necessary, so maybe Capcom will do something else to help sweeten the pot.

Resident Evil 6 Has a New ESRB Rating

AResident Evil 6remaster for PS5 and Xbox Series X isn’t likely to drum up much excitement among fans, but the timing of this ESRB rating is interesting. It comes mere days before theXbox Developer Direct on January 23, where a new entry in a Japanese IP with decades of history is expected to be showcased. There have been no hints that the mystery game at the Xbox Developer Direct isResident Evilor even made by Capcom, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, though it’s still a possibility. Perhaps the announcement of a newResident Evil 6PS5/Xbox Series X port will be coupled with the reveal of the next game in the series, but again, it’s best to keep one’s expectations in check. The more likely scenario is that the mystery game has something to do with Square Enix, since theFinal Fantasy 16Xbox port has been teased to be at the show.

As far as the future ofResident Evilgoes, it’s been suggested by reliable leakers thattwoResident Evilremakes are currently in development: one forCode Veronica, and one forZero. Not only that, butResident Evil 9is believed to be nearing the end of its development cycle, with the expectation that it will launch in 2025 or 2026. As it stands, Capcom has not officially announced any of theseResident Evilprojects, so fans should keep that in mind.
