Summary
The rumoredGran Turismo 7PC port has reportedly been canceled. This purported move makes the immediate future of Sony’sPCporting efforts appear a bit hazier.
Gran Turismo 7debuted on the PS4 and PS5 in early March 2022. By that time, Sony had already startedporting PlayStation games to PC, beginning with titles likeHorizon Zero Dawn,Days Gone, andGod of War. And while plenty of other PlayStation games have appeared on Steam since then,Gran Turismo 7was never officially confirmed to be in development for PC.

Nevertheless, a PC version ofGran Turismo 7was indeed in the works,IconErauser Bryank75 reports, citing a person familiar with the matter. The project was eventually shelved, as per the same source, whopreviously leaked information about several other PlayStation games. The reasons for the supposed cancellation of theGran Turismo 7PC version are unclear, as is the exact timing of Sony’s decision to shelve the project.
Demon’s Souls PC Port Reportedly Isn’t Happening—For Now
Responding to one IconEra user question during a subsequent discussion, Bryank75 also stated that aPC port of theDemon’s Soulsremakeis not currently in development, in spite of recent speculation to the contrary. Elaborating on that point, they theorized that the 2020 game likely won’t make the jump to PC for “many years.”
The possibility ofGran Turismo 7skipping PC may come as a surprise to some fans, especially since bringing Polyphony Digital’s racing game to more platforms has long seemed like an obvious way for Sony to continue its live-service push. On the other hand, the company has reportedly canceled more than ten GaaS projects since 2022, suggesting a potential shift in its live-service strategy—especially after its main proponent, former CEO Jim Ryan, retired in March 2024. A month earlier, PlayStation Chairman Hiroki Totokipledged that Sony would get more “aggressive” with PC ports. Since then, the company has released PC versions of everything fromHorizon Forbidden WestandGhost of TsushimatoLEGO Horizon AdventuresandMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, among other titles.
It’s unclear whether the purported cancelation of theGran Turismo 7PC port signals a potential shift in this strategy. The main thing that might have changed Sony’s perspective on PC ports since early 2024 is the fact that Microsoft has now fully pivoted toward multi-platform publishing at the expense of Xbox hardware. As a result, Sony is currently in a unique position to seize a bigger share of the market by offering the only ecosystem that can play both PlayStation and Xbox games, the former on day-one. Granted, this wouldn’t have to be done at the expense of PlayStation PC ports, though it could theoretically result in Sony deprioritizing such projects.
