Summary
Marvel Studios consistently reveals teases for future projects or takes the time to slowly build up to a bigger collaborative idea within multiple movies and shows, and with the Young Avengers, that’s exactly what’s happening. There have been teases about the group coming together in theMarvel Cinematic Universedue to scenes that have already taken place, and that has built up the excitement for the project.
The Young Avengers will bring a completely different energy to the MCU compared to other teams, mainly due to the age of the characters. The team will comprise younger heroes within the MCU whohave all been established elsewherewithin the franchise. That will lead to them making mistakes as they learn their ways and develop themselves, which is why having a strong leader is going to be crucial for the team, and Marvel has reportedly landed on which character will take up that role.

According to industry insider Alex Perez during aCosmic Circus Q&A, the character of Kate Bishop is set to be the leader of the Young Avengerswhen the project officially launches. Whether this ends up being a movie or a Disney Plus TV show is currently unknown, but it is expected to be named Champions and will feature Bishop as the leader of the group. The team is also set to compromise; Ms. Marvel, Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Wiccan, Hulkling, Speed, and Viv, but changes could be made to that roster between now and the official launch.
Bishop was highlightedduring the original season ofHawkeyeon Disney Plus as a superfan of the Avenger. She showcased her qualities and abilities throughout the series, and the character proved popular with fans. Hailee Steinfeld portrays Bishop, and she is expected to be heavily involved in the MCU moving forward. She is slated to be part ofAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars, as well as the expected second season of Hawkeye. Her character is expected to develop within those projects, from just being a young superfan to becoming her own character.
Marvel Studios will need to develop Bishop from where she is right now, both in terms of personality and ability, if she is going to be taken seriously as the leader of the Young Avengers. Having her be part ofthe upcomingAvengersmoviesshould go a long way toward achieving that, as it will establish her as a mainstay within the MCU and as a character of importance. Anyone who appears in those films will have their stock rise in the eyes of the fans, and that will go a long way to her being a strong enough character for Marvel Studios to put as the face of a project.
Steinfeld is a fantastic actress, so giving her this position makes sense as she brings a level of star power anyway. Meanwhile, thecharacter of Bishop can easily growinto a confident leader with the right creative decisions on Marvel’s behalf. She’s got a lot of potential to be a huge part of the MCU moving forward, and that’s likely why she’s being earmarked as the leader of this group.
