Summary
A movie’s ending is always integral to how fans truly feel about the story, and this is perhaps even truer when it comes to thehorrorgenre. After all, it wouldn’t make sense if every single main character survived. Audiences also expect the final girl to make it to the end credits since the film should follow the rules and conventions of the genre. While questions about Ghostface’s identity and Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) safety are front and center when fans discussScream 7, it’s also interesting to think aboutwhat the final scene could be like.
Whilefans worry about the behind-the-scenes changes,Scream 7is now filming, andaudiences hope for a well-crafted and smooth slasher story. Even if fans don’t agree with everything about the seventh installment in the franchise, they are right to expect a satisfying ending. There are only two choices for the end ofScream 7:a happy conclusion or a last scene that brings up more questions than answers. What is the right choice for the sequel?

What Kind Of Ending Should Scream 7 Have?
It’s easy to argue thatScreamshould have a somewhat happy ending since every other movie does. Whether it’s the sun coming up at the end of the original 1996 movie or theCarpenter sisters looking forward to a new day inScream 6, the franchise has peaceful conclusions. It’s definitely nice to sit back and know that the main characers have beaten Ghostface (even if that victory only lasts until the next movie). IfScream 7has a happy ending, that wouldmake Sidney even more brave, powerful, and strong. It would prove that she can get through anything, even fighting Ghostface for the sixth time. It would also feel like a big sigh of relief considering all the trauma she has been through.
However,ifScream 7wrapped up with a big cliffhanger, that would be more interesting. There arecountless fan theories about Ghostfaceand they’re all engaging. Butwhat if audiences have to wait to learn the truth about Ghostface?Perhaps the movie ends just as Sidney lifts Ghostface’s mask and sees who they are. It’s clear that she knows them, but audiences won’t be told about their real connection untilScream 8. This would give fans plenty of time to come up with fun theories about who Ghostface is and how they’re going to be caught in the next movie.

The cliffhanger could also be about Sidney’s fate, which hasn’t been done before. In all fiveScreammovies that she appeared in, Sidney has gotten away almost unscathed, at least physically.Fans want Sidney to act tough inScream 7,but it would also make senseif she almost died or was at least seriously injured. After all, the stakes are high, and Ghostface has tried to kill Sidney more than once. It might not be so easy for Sidney to get away this time. While this ending would be sad, it would feel realistic.
Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) is a fascinatingScream 4characterand featured prominently at the end of the fourth entry in the slasher franchise.Scream 4arguably has the most memorable and compelling endingbecause Jill achieved her goal of becoming famous. While the other Ghostface killers went on the spree that they wanted to,Jill was the first Ghostface who wanted social media and viral Internet fame, which sets her apart. Although she dies from her injuries, a reporter calls Jill the “sole surviving hero.”
According toSyfy.com, Kevin Williamson was interviewed on the podcastHorror Queensin 2022, and he talked aboutthe original plan forScream 5.Williamson once planned for a trilogy about Sidney Prescott’s “love story"but he also thought that the fifth movie couldfeature Jill front and center. He said on the podcast:
“It was killer meets killer. And Sidney [Neve Campbell] was a professor at that school.”
If Jill had lived at the end ofScream 4, it would have been fun to see her come back forScream 5. Instead, the focus changed to the Core Four characters, which makes fans wonderhow the Core Four can be addressed inScream 7sinceonly Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) seems to be coming back. It will be cool to see what kind of endingScream 7has andif it opens the door to an eighth movie.
