Summary

Scream 7is one of the anticipated movies in 2026. One of the stars shared an update about Ghostface in the upcoming film.Screamis one of the most successful slashers in cinematic history. No wonder a seventh installment is coming up next year.

There is a lot of excitement, especially because some original cast members are returning, like Neve Campbell, Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard, one of the original Ghostface killers in the franchise. AScream 7actor just gave an update about the main antagonist in the franchise — Ghostface — and what they shared would surely make fans go gaga.

Mason Gooding, who plays Chad Meeks-Martin in the franchise, spoke aboutScream 7in his recent interview at the premiere ofHeart Eyesin Los Angeles. Gooding made his debut in the hit slasher inScream 5(2022). He reprised his role and became part of the “Core Four” — Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega), and Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) — inScream 6(2023). He will return in the upcoming movie and Gooding teased that Ghostface is “the most brutal he’s been” inScream 7. “I think that Ghostface is absolutely the most brutal he’s been. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s some stuff that they do to the human body that I feel like Kevin is breaking new ground with,” he said, per Variety. He added that the next film is “gross but in a good way.”

Gooding also shared the most exciting part of the project for him. He admitted that he was most thrilled about working with OG cast member Campbell. Although both starred inScream 5, Gooding felt that there was no “great opportunity” to work with Campbell in the previous film. This time, they seemed to work closely with each other. “I get to work with Neve [in ‘Scream 7’], who I didn’t get a great opportunity to see and talk to on a personal level [on ‘Scream 5’],” Gooding shared. “So in this case, even just getting to be around her feels like I’m getting part of that history and I feel better for it.” Campbell didn’t joinScream 6due to a pay dispute, but sheannounced her return to the franchisein March 2024.

It’s unclear if Gooding’s statement about Ghostface being more violent inScream 7has something to do with Lillard and Foley’s comeback, as both have played Ghostface inScreamandScream 3, respectively.Lillard played Stu Macher, while Foley portrayed Roman Bridger in the franchise. In the original film, Sidney (Campbell) threw a TV on his head after learning that he and Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) were the killers in Woodsboro. He was presumed dead because he was electrocuted and didn’t appear in the sequels. Making Ghostface at his “most brutal” phase makes sense by bringing back two actors who portrayed the masked killer. Since Campbell’s Sidney is back, the pair could have a deadly reunion. Pretty sure this will be exciting, not to mention nostalgic, since the pair were last seen together in the firstScreammovie. If Stu is really dead, they could bring him back through flashbacks. However, I prefer to see him alive and share the screen with Campbell, continuing the life-and-death battle they started in the original film. On the other hand, Roman’s death is confirmed because he was shot multiple times, so he will likely appear in a flashback.
