Severance Season 2’s Running Scene Gets BTS Look

Severanceseason two’s opening scene catapulted viewers back into its uncanny and extremely strange world yet again, but this time with a Mark-sized bang. Straight off the bat, Mark can be seen coming out of the elevator looking confused and worried as he stares nervously along Lumon’s never-ending, bright white hallways. Before fans had a chance to excitedly say “Welcome back”, Mark sprung into action by sprinting down the halls, turning back on himself, spinning around corners, and seemingly going in panicked circles. This particular scene hacks back to when Mark first entered the Macrodata Refinement wing from season one and became bewildered due to its layout, but this time, Mark is looking for his wife - Ms Casey.

Now, for fans who love nothing more than getting a behind-the-scenes look at how certain sequences were done inSeverance, a clip can be seen that shows off how the running scene with Mark was produced. Even though the scene looked like it was done in one long flowing sequence, it apparently took five months to nail down due to “scheduling conflicts and a variety of factors, including the frequent demand for the hallway in other scenes”, according to an interview with Adam Scott withDecider. The short clip shows how the cameraperson intensely follows Mark in his frantic search of Lumon’s hallways and then carefully has to back up again as Mark turns to run in the other direction.
