WhenMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredwas released for PlayStation 5 in 2020,Insomniac controversially decided to change Peter Parker’s facefrom John Bubniak’s to actor Ben Jordan’s. In the years since, the studio has stuck with this decision, despite it proving incredibly divisive in the community. However, that hasn’t stopped PC players from taking matters into their own hands with mods.

Just days after its release, a newmod forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2has launched on Nexus Mods from user CarlosRPG5555, titled “John Bubniak’s Face Over Ben Jordan Face.” Its purpose is simple: restore John Bubniak’s face as Peter Parker in the new game as it appeared on release in the 2018 original. At the moment, there are still some visual bugs, according to the modder. One particularly funny issue makes Peter Parker have some problems closing his eyes. It’s early days, though, and hopefully, they’ll be able to fix this kind of problem with time.
New Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Mod Restores John Bubniak’s Face
Modding was a massive part of the originalMarvel’s Spider-Manon PC. While the base game had plenty of suits to unlock, the creativity of modders meant that gamers had tons of options on PC way beyond what Insomniac Games had intended. For example, oneMarvel’s Spider-Manmod added a suit fromInvincible, showcasing how a lot of these mods involved adding characters from other franchises. While it’s still very early days for the newest game in the series, it’s a good sign that modders are getting stuck in straight away to continue this solid legacy.
Despite modders offering a more positive outlook for the game,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has launched to “Mixed” Steam reviews. The game’s launch on PC has been plagued with crashes and performance issues, which was a surprise given the port was handled by Nixxes. In recent years, the studio has had a stellar record creating great PC ports for PlayStation titles, so hopefully it can get back on track with future updates.
