As popular asSpider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseandSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Versewere and as anticipated as Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is, it doesn’t appear that fans of the movie series are going to be seeing the third installment of the trilogy anytime soon. And while that’s been something that’s rather obvious for a while now, just how far away from the film is from hitting theaters will likely have some fans rather frustrated.
The first installment in the very successful Sony pictures story was released back in 2018. It was followedfive years later bySpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseand that movie ended with an “edge of your set” cliffhanger. While there were plans for fans to not have to wait that long to see the conclusion of the story, there has been one delay after another. The latest update isn’t officially a delay, however, one of the key voice actors onBeyond the Spider-Verse’s latest interview shows that next movie is still pretty far away.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Star Not Recording His Lines Yet
Jharrel Jerome, who voices the alternate reality Miles Morales inAcross the Spider-Verserecently did an interview withDeciderto talk about hislatest live-action project;Unstoppable. While the conversation was almost entirely about that film, at the very end of the conversation, he was asked about whether he had started to record his voicework for the new film and the answer was in the negative. “No, I wish,” he responded. “We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things.”
Unfortunately, this report is roughly the same from earlier this winter when Jerome said that he hadn’t started work on the third film in the trilogy and that he didn’t know when he was going to. Just about a month later, it doesn’t appear that things have changed and that for now, theprocess onBeyond the Spider-Verseis still very much at a standstill.
While the latest report is hardly groundbreaking news, it does mean that there could be almost as long a wait for thethird part in this particular Spider-Manstory as between the first two. That’s especially disheartening considering that when the first film was completed, there was no guarantee it was going to be involved in a larger franchise. Across the Spider-Verse was made specifically with that twist and with the knowledge that the movie was being made as one half of the conclusion.
At this rate, the absolute earliestSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versecould hit theaters would be 2026, it would have to be pretty late in the year at that. It seems more likely that 2027 would be the most likely release date, and that’s ifproduction and voicework does startin the next few months. Should the movie get pushed to 2028, the gap between the first and second, and then the second and third movies would be equal. But that’s almost certainly not what was planned when this was all mapped out.
