Summary

Developer GSC Game World has recently released a new patch forSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. This is the latest patch to improve the game’s performance after the very successful, but somewhat bugged launch ofSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

Released in November 2024,STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobylwas a big hit. The title was the eagerly awaited sequel to the originalSTALKERtrilogy released during the 2000s, and it was delayed for several reasons over the years, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite the long wait,STALKER 2: Hearts of Chornobylsold over a million copies in only 48 hours, and made a profit in less than a month. Since then, GSC Game World has been releasing periodic updates that have been correcting the game’s most pressing issues.

Now, GSC Game World has released Patch 1.1.4 forSTALKER 2, which has fixed some issues related to game-breaking bugs. For example, the patch corrected a memory leak that occurred in the Rostok location, fixed performance degradation when shooting or aiming in saves with long playtimes, and prevented crashes and freezes related to the title’s shader’s compilation. Apart from solving these major issues, the update has also implemented fixes to a bug that was causing saves to be lost on Xbox, and fixed random crashes related to UI animations, improving the overall stability. During the patch’s announcement, the developers also revealed that there’s another major update coming soon, but did not disclose what it will change.

The new patch comes on the heels ofSTALKER 2’s last update in December. The previous update corrected similar problems, fixing issues that caused crashes and affected the game’s saves.

It’s good to see GSC Game World working hard to makeSTALKER 2more stable. During its release,STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylreceived positive reviews from some critics, but only scored an average of 74 on OpenCritic. The score reflected how bugged the title initially was when it became available, as even systems such as the popular A-Life were not working as intended.

Unfortunately for PS5 owners, however, GSC World is not planning to releaseSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylon Sony’s popular console anytime soon. According to the game’s director, Ievgen Grygorovych,STALKER 2is only being worked for PC and Xboxright now, and there’s no timeframe for a potential PlayStation 5 port, which is certainly disappointing news for some fans of the franchise.
