Summary

Stardew Valleylaunched back in 2016, though the developer had already gotten started on it in 2012. Fans are eager to see what Eric Barone, aka ConcernedApe, does next withHaunted Chocolatier, but that doesn’t meanStardew Valleywill be forgotten. In an interview withNPR, he discussed the game, its development, how it’s grown, and what the future could hold. While the developer previously imaginedworking onStardew Valleyfor the rest of his life, he’s now reiterated a similar claim, noting that he doesn’t want to ever completely shut the door onStardew Valley, and that he could even add new content in 50 years. The interviewer questioned this, and he noted that he doesn’t think he’ll ever retire, and that it would be funny to release an update once he’s 90 years old.

Stardew Valley Never Ends, But There’s Space For More

While ConcernedApe is still committed to makingStardew Valleythe best it can be, he also doesn’t want to overwhelm the game with excessive content and bloat. In the event that it reached that point, he would call it quits onStardew. It seems he hasn’t reached that point, but that doesn’t mean that he’s turning his back onHaunted Chocolatier, either. The dev previously noted that he is continuing work on developing that game, though he’s keeping much of the progress under wraps for now. While many fans are eager to see what the developer will be capable of when creating a brand-new game from scratch after gaining so much experience, it may still be a long time before that game reaches players.

With that being said, most fans ofStardew Valleyare probably content to wait, given the main cause ofHaunted Chocolatier’s slow developmentis ConcernedApe’s continuing dedication toStardew. The game has come a long way from its start, but has never lost sight of the charm and magic that players fell in love with in the first place. It wouldn’t be hugely surprising to see fans still dedicated to the game in 50 years, eagerly checking out a new update.
