It’s a bird, it’s a plane? No, it’s SUPERGIRL!! DC Universe chief James Gunn gave fans a huge surprise by sharing the first look ofSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowon social media, making fans excited about how this chapter will redefine the iconic superhero for the new DC era.

In January 2023, Gunn, as soon as he took the position of DCU chief, announced that a newSupergirlfilm was in development. For almost a year, fans received no substantial update about the project and were just told that it was still happening. However, in January 2024, it was revealed that Milly Alcock will be playing the role of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, in the upcoming film. Now, finally, after a gap of almost one year, Gunn has revealed that the filming on the highly anticipated project has begun and shared a picture from the set on social media.

Taking it toTwitter, Gunn shared a picture in which Alcock can be seen sitting on a chair that features the new logo for the Supergirl movie. Apart from sharing the picture, the ‘Superman’ director also wrote a lengthy caption, letting everyone know that the filming has begun. Additionally, he revealed that Australian-American filmmaker Craig Gillespie will be helming the project. He wrote, “Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El. Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely & Ana Nogueira.” Alcock shared the same picture on her Instagram account and simply captioned it, “Introducing Kara.”

Based on the comic book miniseries of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, it has become the second DC Universe movie to start filming. The original comic series has been widely acclaimed for its profound emotional storytelling and stunning artwork. Known for its ability to blend raw human emotions with larger-than-life cosmic adventures, the series has set a remarkable standard, raising expectations for how this adaptation will bring its compelling narrative and visuals to life on the big screen. Moreover,the introduction of Lobo, played by Jason Momoa, adds an exciting new dimension toSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Moreover, on her journey, she meets an alien girl whose planet was destroyed and is now seeking revenge on the people who did it. Apart from Alcock, the film stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Emily Beecham as Alura, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Momoa as Lobo.
