Despite being a charming 2D indie game,Lost Castle 2can be a brutal roguelike. To survive its harsh environments, you need to equip the best weapons. The problem is that the game offers over 200 weapon options, and you can’t choose which specific weapon you’ll receive during each adventure—drops are RNG-based. This leads many players to wonder, “Which weapons inLost Castle 2are the best?” They want to know which weapon categories are worth the time and effort.

Here’s a tier list ranking all weapon categories inLost Castle 2’s current version, followed by an overview of each category, explaining their pros and cons.

Tier List Criteria

It’s important to note thatLost Castle 2features over 200 weapons, divided into seven categories and six rarities. As a rule of thumb, you should always equip the highest-rarity weapon of your desired category. Therefore, creating a tier list for individual weapons wouldn’t be very meaningful, since the best options are always the Legendary weapons; and that’s widely known.

GivenLost Castle 2’s unique weapon distribution system and the fact that drops are random,we’ve created this tier list based on Weapon Categories. This is the only aspect of the weapon distribution you can customize, and knowing which categories are most effective will help you maximize your character’s stats.

Lost Castle 2’s Weapon Preferences Explained

As aroguelike with RPG elements,Lost Castle 2features seven weapon categories: Single-Handed Weapon, Two-Handed Weapon, Dual Blades, Turbo Lancer, Musket, Bow, and Staff. By setting your Weapon Preference, you choose which of these categories’ weapons will appear in chest rewards. You must always select at least three categories at the start of each match, but you also have the option to enable all seven.

To customize your Weapon Preferences, talk to Serena. She can be found near the weapon slots to the right of the campfire.

Weapon Tier List

In both single-player and multiplayer matches, the Single-Handed Weapon and Bow are the best choices inLost Castle 2. The Single-Handed Weapon is great for a balanced DEF-ATK build, while the Bow excels in ranged damage and speed. Other solid options include the Musket, Staff, and Two-Handed Weapon.

Weapon Categories Overview

Here’s a quick overview of each weapon type inLost Castle 2:

Single-Handed Weapon

InLost Castle 2, the Single-Handed Weapon refers to a combination of ashield and a sword. This setup replaces your special move with defense, which can also serve as a parry. With the Single-Handed Weapon, you can attack while shielding yourself. However, the shield is tied to a stamina gauge that depletes as you use it, and you’ll need to release the shield for stamina to regenerate.

Bow

The Bow is one of the best weapons inLost Castle 2for one obvious reason: it allows you to deal damage from a distance. This is especially useful when paired with close-range warriors (or Summons) who can distract enemies while you chip away at their HP from afar without risking getting hit. Bows also come with a special move that, when activated, deals AoE damage to a group of enemies.

The downside of the Bow is its below-average damage at the start of the game. Until you unlock the right upgrades and acquire essential Treasures, you’ll have to contend with its low time-to-kill (TTK).

Musket

Muskets are similar to Bows in that they allow you to engage with enemies from a distance, but they deal below-average damage compared to close-range weapons and require an ammunition cooldown. What sets Muskets apart is their specialty in group fights, often coming with a rapid-fire skill. When you max out a Musket’s heat gauge, you can hold the RB button to unleash burst fire, hitting enemies for several seconds.

Staff

The Staff is ideal for supporting close-range combatants, but it’s not an easy weapon to wield, especially for beginners. Without the right items, amulets, and upgrades, Staffs can be weak against early-game bosses and have a below-average time-to-kill (TTK). On the plus side, they excel at controlling enemies and dealing AoE damage.

Two-Handed Weapon

Two-Handed Weapons deal the highest damage in the game, but this comes at a price: they have a slow attack speed, making them a risky choice for boss fights. You typically pick Two-Handed Weapons for tanky builds, but when doing so, you must rely on a dodge-based close-combat strategy. These weapons are most effective when you’re as close as possible to the enemy.

Dual Blades

Dual Blades are ideal for an assassin class. They encourage the player to rush in, deal damage while moving, and finish enemies off with a damage-over-time (DoT) attack. While this strategy is effective against groups of enemies, it’s also risky.Lost Castle 2’s combat visuals can obscure your vision, and when playing with a team, entering crowded areas can be especially dangerous. You’ll struggle to see your character and dodge incoming attacks in those situations.

Turbo Lancer

The Turbo Lancer isthe most unique weaponclass inLost Castle 2. Most weapons in this category are spear-like and operate with an exhaust mechanic called Pressure Value. Keeping the weapon’s engine running triggers Turbo Overload mode, which boosts damage based on your enchantments. While Turbo Lancers deal impressive damage, they’re most effective against stationary enemies. The tradeoff is that they limit your movement during combat, making them one of the riskiest choices.
