Summary
The Black Phone 2willtell another disturbing tale about The Grabber, and the Blumhousehorrorsequel has a new update for fans.
According to the Geek Vibes Nation X account,The Black Phone 2has finished filming. The Black Phone 2will bein theaters on October 17th, 2025, which leaves several months for editing, marketing, and other parts of the production and release process. Thanks to the well-written script, performances, and chilling story, it’s no wonder thatThe Black Phone 2is ahighly anticipated 2025 horror moviefor many fans of the genre.
This news comes after a fairly recent update thatDemián Bichir was cast inThe Black Phone 2, although it’s unclear what his character is like.
WhenThe Black Phoneended,Gwen Blake (Madeline McGraw) saved her brother Finney Blake (Mason Thames) after The Grabber kidnapped and tried to kill Finney. Their father Terrence Blake (Jeremy Davies) realizes he has been a terrible father and says he’ll change, although of course that doesn’t make up for hiscruel treatment toward his kids inThe Black Phone. McGraw, Blake, Davies, and Miguel Mora, who played Robin, are coming back.Ethan Hawke is also playing The Grabberagain.
No one is certain what will happen inThe Black Phone 2, butperhaps Gwen and Finney try to stop The Grabberfrom hurting more kids. Perhaps he has gone into hiding and now, after some time has passed, he has returned to the neighborhood. Or perhaps they track him down and face off against him.The Black Phonehas a lot in common withSinister, another dark Blumhouse movie also starring Hawke and alsowritten and directed by Scott Derrickson. The sequel could take some cues fromSinister 2and make the villain even more terrifying.
In an interview withThe AU Review,Hawke talked about playing The Grabberand why the villain is so fear-inducing. Hawke said:
“He’s not Darth Vader, he’s some other entity. And the more you see him breathing, but you can’t read the expression. Is he asleep? Is he not asleep?… Why is this person so awful? What is motivating them? That unknown is where a lot of the fear lives. And Scott’s very good at mining those tropes.”
Horror fans are hopeful thatThe Black Phone 2will be as harrowing as the original. There’s no doubt that the sequel will be successful and Blumhouse could make an entire franchise. AsBox Office Mojostates, the original had a worldwide gross of $161,440,742. The Grabber is a villain who has staying power and could haunt many towns for years to come. It’ll be tough to wait for October 2025 to see where he goes next, but hopefully, Gwen and Finney can win against him once again.
