Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas remained loyal to only adding characters from Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Studios to its character roster so far. However, there are a handful of reasons as to whyDisney Dreamlight Valleywould turn to other properties under the Disney roster for new character additions. Though this franchise may seem like a surprising pick, adding characters from James Cameron’sAvatartoDisney Dreamlight Valleycould be a great outside choice for the game’s character additions.
Character additions inDisney Dreamlight Valleyhappen quite frequently, coming in practically every update and twice a year through its expansion passes. The game’s latest character addition was Sally fromThe Nightmare Before Christmasin the Sew Delightful Update (version 1.14). Jasmine and Aladdin have been teased onDisney Dreamlight Valley’s free-to-play 2025 roadmap as the next character additions heading to the hit simulation game. With the frequency of character additions toDisney Dreamlight Valley, there’s a non-zero chance that Gameloft and Disney may have to turn to other properties in the not too distant future.

Why Disney Dreamlight Valley May Have to Look at Outside Properties
Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas added characters from seventeen Walt Disney Animationand five Pixar Studios franchisesto the game, with the studios having fifty-eight and eighteen franchises under their belt respectively. While this may seem like a lot of material forDisney Dreamlight Valleyto adapt, the game adds on average thirteen new characters every year. If Gameloft and Disney decided to be as all-encompassing as possible,Disney Dreamlight Valleycould dedicate a whole year to Pixar additions and knock out every single Pixar franchise untouched by the game so far.
This hypothetical is obviously improbable, but it speaks to the diminishing amount of contentDisney Dreamlight Valleyhas to work with. Additionally, most of Walt Disney Animation and Pixar’s upcoming announced releases are either entries into franchises, spin-offs, or sequels. This once again reduces the number ofnew charactersDisney Dreamlight Valleycould adapt.
Therefore, it’s not unlikely that Gameloft will turn to other areas of the Disney umbrella at some point. The main question should not be when non-Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Studios characterswill be added toDisney Dreamlight Valley, but which properties will.
Why Avatar is the Right Choice for Disney Dreamlight Valley
Obviously,Star Wars and Marvel come to mind. As some of the most popular franchises of all time, capitalizing on Disney’s moneymakers would be a great opportunity forDisney Dreamlight Valley. However, Gameloft’s character choices would be much more limited if they chose characters from these two franchises, as the game needs to choose characters that fit in with its animation style.Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas received criticism from fans previously on characters like Flynn Rider and Belle for looking out of place. If Gameloft has received criticism for poorly adapting characters who originally appeared animated, live action adaptations could face even harsher criticism.
This makes the Na’vi a great choice. While the Na’vi are humanoid, their distinctly alien appearance could make them easier to feature in game. Additionally, unlike Marvel or Star Wars,Avatarleaves more fantasy to explore rather than science fiction.Disney Dreamlight Valleyis currently lacking in sci-fi properties, with WALL-E, EVE,and Buzz Lightyearbeing the only science fiction characters in the game so far.
Pandora’s flora and fauna also make it the perfect opportunity toadd a new biome toDisney Dreamlight Valley. If the Na’vi were hypothetically added in an expansion pass for the game, players who want to keep their game purely Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Studios-centric could simply choose not to purchase the DLC. However, due to the sheer volume of world-building and aestheticsAvatarcould provide, an entire new realm, biome, and expansion pass could be dedicated to the franchise without explanation.
Disney Dreamlight Valleymay have timebefore it has to turn to other properties for character addition, but as the clock ticks, it should keep an eye onAvatar, and its upcoming third film, just in case.
