Razerunveiled a slew of exciting tech at CES 2025, including a collapsible RGB dock for theSteam Deckand similargaming handhelds. Aptly named theRazer Handheld Dock Chroma, the new dock/stand boasts six ports and 100W power passthrough to turn your handheld into the ultimate gaming PC. It will be available on January 30th, but you can preorder it now for $80.

With handheld gaming consoles becoming increasingly popular, it was inevitable that Razer would enter the handheld accessories market. As expected, the new docking station featuresbeautiful RGB lightingthat can be synced with other Razer Chroma accessories for extra gaming flair. The accessory maker also showcased itsProject Arielle, a gaming chair that can heat or cool you down.

A New and Better Docking Station for Your Steam Deck

There is no shortage ofSteam Deck docks, really, but the Razer offering packs a few more features, making it very tempting. A key feature is the design. The Handheld Dock Chroma is more of a stand with a prominent backplate that offers extra support for the handheld, rather than a simple cradle. This makes it compatible with just about any handheld PC in the market and other devices, including tablets and smartphones.

Razer borrows the design from one of my favorite Steam Deck docks, theBaseus GamerX Series 6-Port Dock. Both feature an adjustable backplate that offers different viewing angles and can fold down for compact storage in a backpack. Razer takes it up a notch higher with a durable metal build and customizable RGB lighting that syncs with other Razer Chroma peripherals. The only downside with this design is that it may block the air vents in some handhelds.

When it comes to connectivity, the Razer Handheld Dock Chroma has everything you need to hook your handheld PC up with a bigger screen, keyboard, controller, and more. It has three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a 4K/60Hz HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet jack, and a 100W USB-C PD port for power input. The dock can charge your handheld at up to 85W while gaming, which is plenty enough for the Steam Deck and ROG Ally.

The port selection is impressive, though it lacks the DisplayPort found on the official Steam Deck dock. This is unlikely to be a major concern for most users, given almost all TVs and gaming monitors use HDMI. Razer also includes an integrated USB-C cable with just the perfect length to fit most handheld PCs when docked.

Razer Handheld Dock Chroma: Pricing and Availability

Razer plans to release the Handheld Dock Chroma on January 30th, but preorders are open now at the Razer store. It costs $80, the same as the official Steam Deck dock. Between the two, I’d choose the Razer due to its sleek design and enhanced functionality.

TheBaseus GamerX Series 6-Port Dockis an excellent alternative if you may’t wait for the Razer. It has the same design and costs less, currently $40 on Amazon. Theofficial Steam Deck dockis another excellent option if you prioritize premium build quality and more ports.
