The Sims 3has largely been overshadowed byThe Sims 4, which is still being supported by EA as the series heads into its 25th anniversary. The Sims 3launched anew updatethat fixes an issue with newer PCs using Intel CPUs. Back in 2021, Intel launched a new line of processors referred to as Alder Lake or as the12th generation of Intel processors. Unfortunately for fans ofThe Sims 3, these processors were found to be largely incompatible with the game, and players would experience crashes on startup. A fan released a fix of their own back in 2022 that fixed the issue for many players, but those who didn’t know about it or are unwilling to install unofficial files can now get the latest update from the EA app. The 1.69.47.024017 version is reportedly only available for EA app and Windows versions of the game, but not Steam.

The Sims 3 Players Should Exercise Caution When Installing Update

Considering that it has been many years since the last update was released forThe Sims 3, any players with a vast collection of mods should proceed carefully. WhileThe Sims 4commands the majority of the playerbasefor the series at this point,The Sims 3still sees a significant amount of players, who may be a bit rusty on taking precautions when installing updates to the title. While the update shouldn’t cause any conflicts with mods, it’s a good idea to back everything up prior to proceeding.

WhileThe Simsseries has released new entries over the years, long-time fans still have nostalgic feelings for the olderSimsgames, includingThe Sims 3. There’s a good chance that some players have been effectively locked out of playingThe Sims 3for quite some time now as they’ve adopted new PC hardware over the years, so this may be a good opportunity to revisit the game. Those who preferThe Sims 4, however, will be glad to know that the game will not only be seeing new content but will also receive significant overhauls, like improved lighting. This is great news, especially sinceThe Sims 5isn’t happening, soThe Sims 4will need to hold up for many more years.
