Amazon have refused to give an official reason forcancelingBosch: Legacy, and they still insist it was a mutual decision to bring Harry Bosch’s solo stories to an end after ten combined seasons of the original Bosch series andLegacy. Adam Leipzig Thinks Bosch: Legacy’s Cancelation Was Linked To Two Specific Money Reasons

Adam Leipzig is a successful Hollywood producer, who knows all about how business decisions are made at the higher echelons of Tinseltown, and he often shares his insights on hisown YouTube channel. Soon afterBosch: Legacy’s cancelation last year, Leipzig shared his opinion on why Amazon reached this decision and here is what he said:

The two real reasons Amazon just canceled Bosch: Legacy: Money and Money. Let Me Explain: Bosch: Legacy, great show, was the show that Amazon used to launch Freevee, which was its ad-supported streaming service. And it was really great, it was a big hit. But here we are at the end of season three, unexpectedly canceled. Money reason number one: when a show is really successful, and it’s gone on multiple seasons, every season costs more. The writers cost more, the actors cost more, production costs more and, at a certain point, it just costs so much per episode, that the network just doesn’t want to pay the money anymore. But here is the other big money reason: Amazon discovered they were competing with themselves because if you have Amazon Prime, you’ve probably already seen they’ve started running commercials on Amazon Prime, even though we’re paying every month for it. Well, suddenly, Amazon Prime is competing with Freevee, and Freevee is not that different from Amazon Prime because everything is running commercials. And since Amazon was competing with itself, it just didn’t make any sense for them.

Adam Leipzig is probably right:Bosch: Legacy’s cancelation did come down to money, as, after all, Amazon is running a business, and they want to keep making money. However,Bosch: Legacywas making a profit, but it was also costing more to produce with each season. In their twisted logic, Amazon would rather make cheaper and less superior shows they can mold towardstheir advertising strategy, and sacrifice quality shows likeBosch: Legacy.Amazon shutdown Freeveebecause they didn’t need it anymore due to commercials being introduced on Prime. They also figured they didn’t needBosch: Legacyafter season 3, despite the exciting plans in place to expand Michael Connelly’s crime universe, withthe ReneeBallardspin-off, and the now axedJerry Edgar solo show.
