Nintendo has confirmed that aNintendo Direct will take placeon May 31, 2025, and it will be focused on the Switch 2. Now, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed exactly what it will be revealing about the Switch 2 during the Direct, but speculation points to the console’s price, release date, and launch lineup getting a showcase. If that’s true, it’s highly likely that Switch 2 pre-orders will open on that day as well, so fans should plan accordingly. Alternatively, it’s possible Nintendo will use April 2 to announce a later date that Switch 2 pre-orders will go live. Of course, retailers may offer their own, alternate dates when they will start accepting pre-orders, and so fans should keep that in mind.
When Will Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Go Live?
The good news is that Nintendo fans shouldn’t havethatmuch of a problem getting their hands on a Switch 2 console. Compared to the low numbers of PS5s that were available back in 2020,Switch 2 should be in much higher supply. In fact, it’s been estimated that Nintendo plans on shipping at least 20 million Switch 2 units by the end of the year. Even so, those that want to guarantee themselves a Switch 2 console on launch day should definitely ensure to pre-order the new system whenever they are able to do so.
When Nintendo does announce Switch 2 pre-orders, the information will almost certainly come alongside the console’s planned release date and price. It’s rumored that theSwitch 2 pricemay be as high as $449.99 with an optional $499.99Mario Kartbundle, though others have suggested that the system will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $399.99 instead. As for its release date, some have claimed that the Switch 2 is launching in May, while others believe the new console will be released in June. I’m inclined to believe the latter, as it will be easier for retailers to make the necessary space and preparations with two months notice.
