Summary
Sniper Elite: Resistancehas a lot in common with the previousSniper Elitetitle. That is not a bad thing;Sniper Elite 5is an amazing game. Just like with Sniper Elite 5, players can find a lot of enjoyment from playing through some of the other game modes.
WhileSniper Elite: Resistancehas an amazing Campaign mode, it also has a solid Survival Mode. Survival Mode will give players a specific point to protect and then send waves of enemies at them. This is not an endless mode where players will need to survive as long as they can, and it does, in fact, have a goal for players to aim towards. They just need to hold their ground and keep at it.
7Defend the Point
Don’t Wonder Too Far and Leave Your Point Unprotected
While there aresome basic tips to be aware of, there are also some new tips for this game mode. Players will need to defend a specific point during Survival Mode. While it might seem obvious to hold your ground, you will also see enemies in the distance that seemingly will not come out of cover or will not be moving towards you. Players should not get tunnel vision and pursue these targets immediately. Heading far off from the point to fight one enemy leaves it vulnerable for enemies to attack.
6Prepare Your Arsenal
Expect Long Range Snipers and Armored Tanks
Players can expand their arsenal of weapons in the campaign through completing objectives andfinding collectibles. However, in Survival Mode, players will have everything they need at their disposal. Players will need to deal with all manner of enemy types in survival, and the game gives players everything they need to deal with them.
While it might be fun to use a rocket to blow up a bike, truck, or even a single enemy soldier, save them for armored vehicles. Players have everything they need to complete Survival Missions, but players should not waste weapons on the wrong types of enemies. This can lead players to struggling when they need them.
In your loadout, prepare some extra ammo for areas you find troublesome.
5Survival is Not Endless
There is a Set Number of Enemies to Deal With
Some players might hear “Survival Mode” and think that means they need to survive as long as possible. This is not the case forSniper Elite: Resistance, or previous games in the franchise for that matter.
There is a set number of enemies for each Survival Mission. Defeating every last one of them will cause it to be completed. It is a matter of surviving against superior odds, not surviving to increase a timer.
Ammo restocks after each wave. Share it among players and then search bodies.
4Play Conservatively
The Best Offense is a Good Defense
Players may be used to being the hunters. However, this time they are the ones hiding. Popping up to take shots will help in thinning out enemies, but players should not be as risky compared to campaign missions.
Players may think they can afford to lose some life here and there and make up for it later. However, all it takes is one wave to go wrong, and the Mission ends right there and then. Players must prevent being flanked, and if possible, should funnel enemies from one direction.
3Use Traps
Deny Enemies the Opportunity to Flank
Placing traps at points means you can safely focus on fewer areas, knowing that enemies will be taken care of. Trap placement will differ for each location, so keep an eye open. Players can even plant grenades in the bodies of fallen enemies, so pick up and place some bodies in doorways before booby trapping them.
Place some traps on the point; this way, if you get forced off of it, any enemy that advances on it will be taken care of. However, it is best to get back on it quickly to prevent more troops making their way onto it.
2Bring Some Friends Along
A Tactical Team Makes Things Much Easier
Having friends, even if it is just 1, makes a big difference. An ally can cover corners with a trap to prevent getting shot in the back. They can now take shots at anyone targeting the host, as well as the host targeting enemies looking at allies.
This divides aggro and can make the mode far easier to get through. Playing with friends has always been encouraged inthe numerous Sniper Elite titles, even their zombie-themed spin-offs.
1Don’t Try to Abandon The Point to Watch from Afar
Leaving the Point Open is Never a Good Idea
Teaming up with some friends and all watching a heavily trapped point might seem like a good idea at first. However, enemies don’t just flock to the point. In fact, only a few will seemingly make their way onto it while all the other target players.
This now leaves players divided and fighting for each of their own survival while enemies trigger traps until they start to swarm the point. This will onlymake things harder.
