The game’s subreddit has been flooded with messages from fans saying goodbye to their towns, with many deciding to send their townspeople on 24-hour tasks right before the shut-down.

EA never provided any kind of concrete explanation as to why it was shutting downThe Simpsons: Tapped Out, a mobile game with over a decade of history, but it’s possible it had to do with expiring licenses, the cost of running the game not being justified by the revenue it was generating, or some other reason entirely. The only solace is that at least EA told fans whenThe Simpsons: Tapped Outwas being delistedand when it was shutting down the game, so they had a few months to say goodbye.

Seven more EA mobile games are shutting down on January 29, whileUFC 3is on the chopping block come February 17.EA Sports UFC Mobile 2andNCAA 14are both shutting down on March 13, andMadden NFL 21’s online services will cease to exist on June 30.
