Marvel Rivalshas no shortage of leaks and rumors surrounding its playable roster of characters, with the future looking bright for fans if these leaks turn out to be true. AlthoughMarvel Rivalsfans are still awaiting the release ofThe Thing and Human Torch coming sometime during Season 1, many fans are looking ahead to what future seasons could offer in terms of new playable characters. WhileMarvel Rivalshas confirmed that future seasons won’t feature as many new playable additions as Season 1, two missing characters seem like shoo-ins for a future season.
Marvel RivalsSeason 1 is putting a spotlight on The Fantastic Four as the stars of the seasonal plotline, but there is another Marvel team that deserves a greater focus as well. The Guardians of the Galaxy has some solid representation inMarvel Rivals, with Star-Lord, Mantis, Groot, Rocket, and Adam Warlock already playable. However, the team is still missing Drax and Gamora, two iconic members of the group, who could be the perfect additions in a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed season.

Marvel Rivals Will Likely Complete the Core Guardians of the Galaxy Cast with Drax and Gamora
Why Drax and Gamora Are Inevitable Marvel Rivals Additions
TheGuardians of the Galaxyare arguably one of the most popular teams in Marvel after the MCU films catapulted the group to fan-favorite status. As such, it’s odd that Drax and Gamora are missing from the game, especially with the other major members already present. However, some in-game dialogue suggests that Drax and Gamora are likely coming to the game eventually, with it only being a matter of time before the Guardians are reunited.
In pre-match dialogue with Black Panther, Star-Lord will ask if he has “seen Drax or Gamora out there in your empire,” and when Black Panther replies that he has not, Star-Lord says “I gotta find them. They’re the closest thing I have to a family.” While Drax and Gamora don’t appear in the game yet, this name-drop implies that Star-Lord is actively looking for the missing Guardians afterDoctor Doom and Doom 2099 caused the Timestream Entanglement. Since the game goes out of its way to directly mention Drax and Gamora, it would be strange if they never end up as playable characters, making their additions seem inevitable.

How Drax and Gamora Could Fit into the Marvel Rivals Roster
Not only would the addition of Drax and Gamora help strengthen the overarching plot ofMarvel Rivals, but the two characters could fill unique roles in the game’s roster as well. While Gamora would seem like a natural fit for a new Duelist character, she could also feature some characteristics of a Strategist given her renown as a master tactician. Similar to howMr. Fantastic has characteristics of a Vanguard while being a Duelist, Gamora’s kit could allow her to be a melee-focused Duelist with the ability to give her teammates buffs since she has retained certain powers from once holding the Infinity Stones.
Cosmo the Spacedog is another Guardians of the Galaxy member that could fit inMarvel Rivalsright alongside Jeff the Landshark, but has not been referenced by name in the game, unlike Drax and Gamora.

Drax could also fill a similar archetype but as a Vanguard with some Strategist capabilities. Drax’s artificial body that he received after being revived by the Eternal Kronos makes him durable enough to be a tanky Vanguard, but the cosmic awareness and aura he possesses could allow him to offer shields to his teammates, similar to Magneto’s Metal Bulwark ability. The addition of theseGuardians of the Galaxy could also open up new potential Team-Upswith other existing members to give players even more options for building a team for competitive use inMarvel Rivals.
