On Tuesday, Sony released a teaser of theUntil Dawnmovie based on that video game that shows the new cast and setting while giving the people behind the film the chance to explain how the flick will incorporate one of the game’s most interesting mechanics.
TheUntil Dawnvideo game,as well as its remake, is based on a group of friends that are hoping for a fun weekend in a remote ski cabin in the middle of a snowstorm. However, it doesn’t take long at all for the friends to get picked off one by one. The player’s job when playing the adventure game is to try and make the right decisions for every character that will allow the player to save as many people as possible, if not the entire group.

Now that theUntil Dawnteaser is officially here, it’s showing viewers at least some of what they can expect, while introducing the audience to the group of people whose lives will be in danger in this story. The video gives a glimpse of the action while also allowing writer and producer Gary Dauberman and director David F. Sandberg to explain why they made they changes they did to the story.
TheUntil Dawnmovie’s creators had previouslydivulged that the film won’t take place in a snowbound cabin but instead will involve a group of friends going out to a palatial estate and large house. However, it appears this time around that the story takes place in the spring or summer as green grass and bushes are evident early on.
Dauberman tells the audience in the teaser that he thought a lot about how they couldcontinue the story ofUntil Dawnwithout “just giving the audience the same experience they got when they were playing.” Sandberg added that the movie has the same tone and the same vibe but “expands upon the universe.” When it comes to recreating the vibe, Sandberg said that the movie has a mechanic where if and when a character dies, the scene can start over and they will get to “try again.” When the characters come back to life, Sandberg said that it’s like the characters are in a new horror genre and that in order to survive what’s going on in the house, they’ll have to survive until dawn.

Sandberg’s explanation of how the movieis going to work and what will happen to those who are caught inside this kind of horror loop, the teaser shows some members of the group waking up after being killed and not knowing where they are or what just happened to them. The last part of the teaser was a promise that a full trailer is coming soon that will show off even more of the plot details as well as allowing the audience to really meet the people they’ll be rooting for in the film.
