Hyper Light Breakerisn’t for the faint of heart. As players explore the vast lands of the Overgrowth, death will be a constant companion during their early hours. Set in a procedurally generated world,Hyper Light Breakerblends elements from both roguelikes and extraction games to create a truly unique experience that you may get into with up totwo other players in co-op.
During your adventures in the Overgrowth, you’ll notice a counter called Rez on your screen after your first death. For newcomers, this mysterious counter might raise some concerns, particularly about what happens when it reaches zero. For those curious, here’show the Rez system works inHyper Light Breaker.

How Rez Works in Hyper Light Breaker
The World Cycle is at the heart of game design inHyper Light Breaker. The gameplay loop follows a clear pattern:
While this concept seems straightforward, thegameplay progression is a whole other thing. You’ll likely face multiple deaths before reaching the Abyss King, and this is where the Rez system comes in.

Rez represents your resurrection attempts within a single instance of the Overgrowth. Each new World Cycle grants players four Rez charges, with one charge being consumed per death. Once you’ve exhausted all four charges, you’ll need to repair the Telepad using resources before proceeding to the next World Cycle.
Starting a new World Cycle generates an entirely fresh map for your next adventure.

What Happens When You Lose All Rez in Hyper Light Breaker?
After running out of Rez charges, you’ll be locked out of using the Telepad until it is repaired. To fix it,talk to Pherus Bitstanding near the Telepad and choose the“Create New World Composition”option.
You’ll also see the cost of repairing the Telepad on this screen.

The repair cost varies based on your currentinventory of Bright Blood or Materials. Don’t worry if you’re running low on resources;Hyper Light Breakeralways makes sure you’re able to cycle to a new world, even when you’re low on Bright Blood. When you start the repair, you’ll also gain Golden Rationdepending on your currency and rank.
For early-game players, it’s a good idea to buy new weapons or equipment from vendors before resetting the world.

Once repaired, you may use the Telepad to return to the Overgrowth. You’ll start in an underground bunker, where you can claim free equipment from a nearby skeleton before taking the elevator back up to continue your quest to defeat the Abyss King.
