Romancing SaGa 2: What is LP?
InRomancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, LP stands forLife Points, and a unit willlose one every time that they are incapacitated. For full clarity, incapacitation occurs when a unit’s HP is taken to zero, and the unit will lose additional LP if they are damaged while incapacitated.
While it is not problematic for a unit to lose some of their LP, players should do their best to prevent them from reaching zero LP. This is important because a unit will bepermanently removed from the party if their LP hits zero. Indeed, there ispermadeathinRomancing SaGa 2, and any unit that loses all their LP will experience it.
Romancing SaGa 2: Does Permadeath Matter?
In general, permadeath inRomancing SaGa 2can be seen as an inconvenience rather than a game-ending problem. Indeed, while permanently losing a unit can definitely cause some short-term issues, those issues can easily be overcome. This is due to the fact that fans oftactical RPGscan always fill an empty space in their parties by visiting a tavern, which can be found in many cities and in Castle Avalon, and recruiting a new unit.
Additionally, the new recruits that come from taverns should not be much worse than the lost unit, and players may even find a better unit on occasion. This is because a new recruit’s starting weapon and spell levels are informed by a player’s overall standings, and those standings should be at least comparable to the lost unit’s skill levels. For the uninitiated, overall standings are increased every time a party member uses a weapon orspell inRomancing SaGa 2, and they can be viewed in the Imperial Standings menu.
With all of that said, players will likely need to put their current outing on hold so that they can visit a tavern and recruit a new unit.JRPGfans will also need to spend some time equipping that unit and teaching them desirable Techs. This process will certainly slow down a player’s progress, and it is why permadeath was previously described as an inconvenience.
Romancing SaGa 2: How to Restore LP
Anima Draughtis a consumable item inRomancing SaGa 2that can be used to restore one LP to a unit. Players can purchase a limited number of Anima Draught from the NPC at Witch’s Sanctum, and they can also farm them from the Gold Baum enemies that appear in the Den of Umbrage.
Furthermore, fans ofparty-based RPGswho have obtained theDarkstone Ringcan use the item to restore a unit’s LP by draining the LP of the other party members. To do this, players should simply equip the Darkstone Ring to the unit that is in need of LP and then sleep.
Finally, theLifesteal Tech, which can be glimmered by equipping theSoulreaper Bow, absorbs one LP from a foe. This method is not accessible during a fight playthrough, though, as the weapon is obtained inRomancing SaGa 2’s post-game.
