Resident Evil 2has a lot of key items thatLeon and Clairewill come across that will later lead to useful items or progress them further into the police station. Every item has a specific use and should be held onto, especially since some can be found much earlier in the game than when they are needed.
One example is the Red Jewel, which can be found very early in the game as you explore the first few rooms of the police station. You can put it in storage for a little while, though it’s incredibly useful to hold onto; here’s exactly what the Red Jewel is used for.

The Red Jewel can be obtained just about at any point by heading to the Art Room and combining the arm and the book found in the library and putting it back on the statute. Examine the Scepter to get the jewel out, then put it in storage for just a bit as you’ll need to first find the three medallions andproceed through the parking garage section.
After completing the events in the parking garage, Leon willget the Club Keyand Claire willget the Heart Key. Either head through the Interrogation Room door or the Observation Room door as they both connect inside where you’ll find ajewelry box inside the Observation Room on the table. Combine the Red Jewel with the box to open it and get a S.T.A.R.S Badge, which can be inspected to reveal it’s a USB dongle.
Be warned as shortly after this point in the game,Mr. X will be introducedas a constant threat in the Police Station.
What Is The USB Dongle Used For In Resident Evil 2 Remake
With the USB Dongle in hand, head up to thesecond floor of the western side of the building the STARS office. Along the right wall of the main room will be a PC you can plug the Dongle into. Then interact with the monitor to the right of the PC to confirm access to the weapon’s locker. Depending on who you are playing as you’ll get one of the following weapons:
