Marvel Snaphas received increased criticism for a number of reasons. Developers have stated their intentions to solve some of the game’s issues for quite some time now, but the community has begun to crave something much more concrete.Marvel Snap’s developersneed to make a move before it’s too late, and 2025 provides plenty of opportunities to earn good will with the community.

2025 is a Make-or-Break Year for Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap Will Start 2025 With a Bang

Just like any other card game,Marvel Snaptakes a lot of planning to keep up. Players will often learn about upcoming releases months in advance, either from an official announcement or otherwise. This remains true for the beginning of 2025, as the community can already be sure howMarvel Snapwill spend the first two months of the year.

First up to bat is the January Season, which is set to focus on theDark Avengers. With Iron Patriot as the Season Pass card, many of the new additions seem like powerful additions to the game. Victoria Hand, Moonstone, and Bullseye all feature abilities which clearly fit into existing decks. If the Dark Avengers end up as strong as they appear on paper, the new cards could quite possibly help to revitalize the meta.

Marvel Snap MCU Crossovers Are Still Going Strong

The February Season will reportedlyfocus onCaptain America: Brave New World, no doubt meant to celebrate the film’s release on Valentine’s Day. Of course, Sam Wilson’s Captain America will serve as the Season Pass card, and his unique ability brings a lot to the table. The other cards are a mixed bag, although even the most promising abilities don’t seem game-breaking. Likewise, some of the characters being adapted are on the obscure side, which is ironic given the high-profile status of the film’s title character.

The upcomingBrave New Worldlineup carries on a tradition set by previousMarvel SnapSeasons, which have never shied away from major MCU releases. The only reason there weren’t more crossovers in 2024 can be chalked up to the relatively small number of MCU titles released last year. In fact, the recentMarvel RivalsSeasonwas one of the most ambitious collaborations yet, and perhaps a further sign of things to come in 2025.

After all, 2025 has some very heavy hitters on the way. A newCaptain Americamovie is already proof of that, butThunderboltsandThe Fantastic Fourhave the potential to generate a lot of buzz for Marvel as a whole. Considering the former is set to be the focus of aMarvel SnapSeason, it would certainly make sense if the latter two received some love as well.

Marvel Snap Could Be Due for Some Big Changes in 2025

Marvel Snap Series Drops Are Still Up in the Air

However, the next year isn’t likely to be all sunshine and rainbows forMarvel Snap. Alongside all the potential for collaborations and fan service, there are still some major subjects hanging in the air. Although official announcements are scarce at the moment, this only makes it that much more likely that 2025 is the year that some of these issues might be addressed. Series Drops have come to the forefront of conversation, particularly due to the way they were handled in 2024.

Despite being the core ofMarvel Snap’s progression system, the game received very few Series Drops last year. When one finally arrived towards the end of the year, it did not include nearly enough cards to make up for the pace of recent additions. Developers have stated that more will follow, but this now forces one to ask if subsequent Series Drops will improve on what the last one lacked, and if they will be frequent enough to have any impact at all.

Marvel Snap Needs a Major Update Before It’s Too Late

Unfortunately, the scarcity of Series Drops is not the onlyproblem facingMarvel Snap, and it is far from the biggest either. That title undoubtedly goes to the matter of card acquisition. The Collector’s Vault allowed players to pick up cosmetic variants, which in turn helped offset some of the game’s issues with increasing monetization. However, if card acquisition was improved, the issues with monetization and Series Drops might not exist in the first place. Similar to Series Drops, card acquisition is another matter which developers have reportedly been working on for quite some time now.

After going so long without any further announcements or elaboration, some members of the community are growing more and more skeptical. Although a complete system overhaul would be appreciated, it isn’t entirely necessary. Even releasing a roadmap would work wonders to alleviate tension in the community. Although it is currently unclear if and when such a roadmap might be released, it is clear that these issues are already on the developers' radar.Mobile games likeMarvel Snapare always on a ticking clock, which makes 2025 the perfect stage to address such concerns.
