Despite some speculation to the contrary, “Nintendo Switch 2” seems to be the final name of the console after all. True to its name, the Switch 2’s role as a sequel is made most clear through its striking resemblance to its predecessor. The Switch 2 is larger than the original, which is most likely intended to bolster the power of the console. More importantly, the original Nintendo Switch’s presentation was chock-full of information about titles coming at launch and beyond.

The presentation could reveal a new console coming to the library of NSO, but that won’t need to be as extensive as its debut was.
Furthermore, the hardware segment won’t need to spend as much time as the original did in explaining concepts like the Joy Cons or Handheld Mode. Instead, the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct can spend its hardware discussion elaborating on the important differences that were already revealed or teased within its first trailer.

The successor to 2017’s Nintendo Switch continues down the same path as its predecessor, providing a hybrid experience that supports both home and handheld gaming.
