Whether youplay as Leon or ClaireinResident Evil 2 Remake, you’ll be exploring a lot of the same locations during the first half of the game. While the general layout of the Police Station is the same, the specific ways each character gets around will vary.
There are a lot of key items and even keys that are unique to each character, making both playthroughs feel different. One unique key item that can only be obtained by one character is the Crank Handle; here’s where to get it and what it’s used for.

Where To Find The Crank Handle In Resident Evil 2 Remake
The Crank Handle is unique to only Leon, with Claire not being able to get it at all.
To get the Crank Handle, you’ll first need tofind the three medallionsand make it to the garage, fighting the first boss along the way. Once you reach the parking garage, interact with the kiosk by the gate to play a short cutscene where you’ll meet a mysterious woman who will then walk off. Follow her into the jail and walk to thesouthwestern corner of the jail.

After finding the reporter who is locked up and quickly killed by something powerful, you’ll get control of Leon again and can approach thetable along the right side of the room with the Crank Handle being found on it. This isn’t something you can leave and come back for as it is needed to get out of the parking garage as Leon, so if needed make room in your inventory as you don’t have any other option.

The Crank Handle is used to open two shutters in Leon’s playthrough:
After using the Crank Handle to open both of those shutters, the red check mark will appear on it in the inventory, signifying it can be discarded as there are no other uses for ittaking up an inventory slot.
