Unfortunately, Capcom has yet to announce such a remake, so all discussion of the project remains a rumor until officially confirmed by developers.

However, this entry in the series may be one of the most deserving of the remake treatment.Resident Evil Zerohas made its way to the news once again, as prominent leaker Dusk Golem recently stated that the game is “still very much in production.” While exciting, this should be taken with a grain of salt until Capcom addresses the supposed project. Resident Evil Zero Deserves to Be the Franchise’s Next Big Remake

RE0 Has A Strong Opening That Gets Derailed

The opening ofResident Evil Zeroremains an iconic moment in the series, even with its divisive nature. The Ecliptic Express, an Umbrella-owned train, is attacked by a swarm of leeches that are infected with the infamous T-Virus.S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambersand death row inmate Billy Coen stumble upon the infected train, kickstarting a strong introduction. However, a big criticism is that the story begins to falter after such an interesting opening. So, not only could aResident Evil Zeroremake fix its story mistakes, it could elevate an opening sequence that is already regarded as a strong point in the game.

Leaks and rumors have also suggested thatResident Evil - Code: Veronicacould be getting a remake.

Bringing Resident Evil’s Body Horror to New Heights

Through the years, the grotesque imagery of theResident Evilfranchise has clearly improved, especially in this most recent era.RE7showcased some downright disgusting mutations with the Baker family, whileVillagescared the pants off almost every player duringthe giant baby sequence in House Beneviento.

One of the main villains players run into inResident Evil Zerois Mimicry Marcus. The aforementioned leeches will slither together to form a warped version of James Marcus. When playing now, Mimicry Marcus isn’t the most terrifying enemy, especially after seeingthe horrorsRE7andVillagebrought to life. However, remaking the likes of Mimicry Marcus with the graphics and details that helped makeRE7andVillageso terrifying could help craft something truly atrocious.

Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen Are an Underrated Duo

As of now,Resident Evil Zerois the only Rebecca-led game. Of course, she has appeared throughout the series, but she’s a strong character that could benefit from a revisit, especially with Billy Coen at her side. What first starts off as an uneasy alliance quickly becomes a solid partnership, and a more modern take on the dynamic of this duo could help the story move along better.Resident Evilhas featured some of the most iconic duos in gaming, but Rebecca’s prodigy status and Billy Coen’s backstory of being framed for murder creates a unique dynamic that still holds untapped potential.

InResident Evil Zero, Rebecca Chambers works as a S.T.A.R.S. field medic. Graduating from college at 18, she is the youngest and newest member of the team.

The long legacy ofResident Evilhas offered tons of scares and stories filled with corporate corruption. With Capcom releasing new chapters in tandem with remakes of beloved entries, a fresh take onResident Evil Zerofeels inevitable. Of course, only time will tell, but there is a strong case for puttingResident Evil Zeronext in line.
