Fans ofTheWitcherfranchise have received a lot of exciting news in the past few weeks. Back in December, CD Projekt Red stole the show at The Game Awards 2024 by giving gamers a sneak peek atThe Witcher 4. The stunning cinematic trailer for the game confirmed that Ciri would be the main protagonist of the upcoming title, instead of series mainstay Geralt of Rivia. Late last month, CD Projekt Red also announced that it would be hosting aWitcherconcert tour across Europe to celebrateThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s 10-year anniversary. Tickets for the event, which will take place later in 2025, have been made available for sale on the officialWitcherwebsite.

Although fans will probably have to wait awhile to get their hands onThe Witcher 4or attend theWitcherconcert, there will at least be some other things to tide them over in the meantime. Netflix’sWitcherTV series, for example, is getting a fourth season later this year, that will featureLiam Hemsworth as Geralt of Riviainstead of Henry Cavill. In addition to this, Netflix is also making a newWitchermovie calledThe Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, which is scheduled to come out in just a few days.

Netflix is Releasing a New Witcher Movie Next Week

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is an Animated Movie Set in the World of Netflix’s The Witcher

Revealed during Netflix’s Geeked Week presentation in late 2023,The Witcher: Sirens of the Deepis the second animated film adaptation of theWitcherfranchise, following 2021’sThe Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. It’s set in the same universe as Netflix’sWitcherTV show, which does not take place in the same timeline as theWitchergames or the books. Although the movie’s art style is reminiscent of Japanese anime, it’s actually being produced by a South Korean company named Studio Mir, which has frequently worked on Western animation projects.

UnlikeNightmare of the Wolf, which took place years before the events of Netflix’sThe Witcher,Sirens of the Deepis set right between the fifth and sixth episodes of the TV series. The film, which is based off the 1992Witchershort story"A Little Sacrifice," follows the famous monster-slayer Geralt of Rivia, who is tasked with investigating a series of attacks that have occurred within a quaint seaside village in the princedom of Bremervoord. What starts off as a simple monster hunting contract quickly devolves into a race against time, as Geralt has to solve the mystery behind these attacks before war breaks out between the merpeople and humans that inhabit the village.

Geralt’s Voice Actor from The Witcher 3 is Reprising His Role in Sirens of the Deep

Thecast forThe Witcher: Sirens of the Deepfeatures several notable voice actors. The sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, for instance, is voiced by Anya Chalotra, who portrays the character in the live-actionWitcherTV show. Geralt of Rivia, on the other hand, is played neither by Henry Cavill nor by Liam Hemsworth. Instead, the voice actor who portrayed Geralt inThe Witcher 3, Doug Cockle, is reprising his role. This is the first time Doug has voiced Geralt since 2019, when he last played the iconic character in the 3D fighting gameSoulcaliber 6.

Despite the fact that it features many of the same characters,The Witcher: Sirens of the Deephas nothing to do with CD Projekt Red’sWitcherRPGs. However, sinceDoug Cockle is playing Geraltin the film, it may still appeal to some fans of the games. Cockle’s portrayal of the rugged monster hunter was unanimously acclaimed inThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and his acting inSirens of the Deepwill probably receive similar praise, as well. Fans can tune in to hear his performance as Geralt whenThe Witcher: Sirens of the Deeplaunches on June 03, 2025.
