OnceWorld of Warcraft:The War WithinSeason 2 starts a week after Patch 11.1, Blizzard is hoping to lower that barrier of entry. Baseline Mythic dungeons are getting a little harder, but with Champion-track rewards from each boss to compensate. Meanwhile, Mythic 2 through 10 dungeons each now add a stacking 7% health and damage bonus at each level, rather than 10%. Affixes no longer appear until Mythic 4, with the Xal’atath’s Bargain rotating modifiers showing up from then on, and the alternating Tyrannical and Fortified affixes kicking in at Mythic 7, with both active at Mythic 10+. Challenger’s Peril – the timer death penalty affix – has been removed from Mythic 7, and instead kicks in at Mythic 12 as a part of Xal’atath’s Guile, replacing the previous 10% enemy health buff and the rotating Bargain affixes.

Rewards are also being overhauled, with Hero-track gear available at the end of Mythic 6 dungeons and fromthe Great Vault inWorld of Warcraftas early as Mythic 2, and with Gilded Crests obtainable in Mythic 7. What’s more, fans who time all of their dungeon keys at Mythic 12 or above will create a new “floor,” preventing them from deleveling their keys at high progression levels. To accommodate these changes, the Keystone Legend achievement will now require a rating of 3000, rather than 2850, though the rebalancing should make it a comparable challenge level as before.

Overall, these changes should give fans more incentive to do lower-level Mythic+ dungeons, rather than new players diving headfirst into Mythic 7 just to get Hero gear. Reception to these changes seems to be overwhelmingly positive so far, so fans will have to see how this Mythic+ system works when itarrives on theWorld of WarcraftPTRin the next couple of weeks, and in Season 2 once Patch 11.1 drops, likely in February.
