WWE 2K25will aim to raise the bar set by its predecessors,WWE 2K23and2K24, both of which were well-received by fans and critics alike. Developer Visual Concepts has introduced a number of new additions to the gameplay, as well as new match types and a huge roster, in an effort to keep the in-ring action fresh and exciting.WWE 2K25will feature improved versions of all game modes, as well as a brand-new game mode titled The Island.

WWE 2K25’s The Island is an interactive world made up of a series of areas built around different WWE themes. Players can explore the island, challenging other players while vying to earn aWWE contract by impressing Roman Reigns. The Island allows players to complete quests, take on challenges, compete in live events, as well as earn unlockables, including upgrade and customization cosmetics to be used in the game’s various modes. However, some fans may be disappointed to learn that The Island is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

WWE 2K25’s Island is an Exciting New Concept

Plenty of mystery still surrounds2K25’s Island, but it certainly seems to offer a fresh, interactive way for fans to engage with the game. Featuring a mixture of online and offline play, it’s set to become a big part oftheWWE 2K25experience, which could prove to be frustrating for fans who aren’t playing on a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

Forannual new releases likeCall of DutyandFIFA(now known asEA FC), new features and modes are usually the main reason that fans opt to keep returning for each new installment. The core gameplay doesn’t tend to change too much, so asking players to continuously pay for a new iteration each year is far easier with the introduction of new concepts and game modes. The Island seems to be exactly this, but the fact that it is only included for current-gen players slightly dampens the excitement. It is exclusively and ONLY for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. PC has not been mentioned either way, but it seems like Steam will not be able to access this feature either. If that is the case, then it may be due to the potential of modders to gain cosmetics through other means.

WWE 2K25 Also Features Returning Modes

Aside from The Island, theWWE 2Kseries' popular Showcase mode returns and focused on The Bloodline. Titled The Bloodline’s Dynasty, it will focus exclusively on the history of The Bloodline and the extended Anoa’i family. It will allow players to get an extensive look at family members such as Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Jacob Fatu, as well as pitting them against other WWE superstars and playing out some exciting ‘what if?’ scenarios.

The series' MyGM, MyFACTION, andMyRISE modes all make a return, each with enhanced gameplay and features. The Creation Suite once again lets players craft their own superstars, and WWE Universe mode also features upgrades to the gameplay. It seems fans will be spoiled for choice when deciding what to do first when they get their hands onWWE 2K25.

WWE 2K25launches for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 14. Fans who purchase the Deadman or Bloodline Editions will be able to play from March 7.
